Woods and Galloway burnout

IMO Sheens has these guys playing excessive minutes. Sure we are winning games but it is only a matter of time before they get burnt out and become more susceptible to injuries in the back end of the season. Their game time could be managed better.

Thoughts?

I like when a starting forward can play longer minutes so your bench players can making a bigger impact. If they are fit enough to play big minutes then keep them out there.

nothing wrong with keeping them out there as long as possible. keep their match fitness to excellent levels. If in the later part of the season Sheens decides to reduce their time they will be even more effective with huge energy levels for short periods. At the moment with 6 on the trot why change it? They are both still young and should be able to put up with the impacts they endure on their body playing a professional sport.

Agree with slacko, at the moment the bench is having a bigger impact with BMM and Bell coming on late. I would like to see another big fella like Moors ripping in so there was even more of an impact but its not the Sheen way. When Ellis comes back Id like to see - Woods/Farah/Galloway Blair/Ellis Rhino with a bench of BMM/Bell/Fulton/Moors. Fulton to cover the backs. In reality we will probably see a bench of Fulton/BMM/and 2 of either Bell/Moors/Humble/Reddy/Ayshford/Utai….........wow, thats actually a great selection headache to have. Good luck to Sheens fitting Ellis back into the squad.

You have absolutely no idea we have 2 props that play big minutes that allows Sheens not to rely on bench players which you would be blowing up if he used them more. These 2 guys are laying the platform Farah & Benji to be at their best and have been great for us this year. This is just another attempt to have a go at Sheens. Stupid Thread.

I have been saying for years that I wanted to see Gal play bigger minutes. He can handle it. He and Woods are complimenting each other and the team perfectly.

Agreed with one of the above posters - stupid thread and another cheap shot at sheens. Yeah, let's play em let's time, why we are at it lets play gallen less time in origin and also …. Aaww I can't be bothered wasting anymore energy on this ....

if they were petering out id give this some credence, but their effort is constant throughout the game, no need to reduce minutes.

No you have no idea. Playing your two starting front rowers for close to 70 mins every week is bound to take its toll. The lack of planning from Sheens has left us short of quality front rowers. Thankfully we were able to get Cashmere which helps but he's injured.

Thankfully the team is winning now but still dont agree with it

If they're fit enough (and they are), then there's no problem with giving them good minutes. Sheens has gradually increased their game time to the current 60-70 minutes both players are playing and as long as they're doing the right things with recovery and diet, then it's a good thing for the Tigers.

One thing Sheens can never be accused of is lack of planning. The man lives and breathes Rugby League and while we as fans may not agree with various team selections etc, one thing I'll never do is accuse him of a lack of planning.

I would also imagine it depends on your opposition and the speed of the game and intensity. They both seem to handle it OK and I have noticed that it takes some game time for Kieth to get back into the grind.

I don't mind them playing long minutes but we should have 5 Forwards (Heighno, Fulton, Blair, Galloway and Woods) playing long minutes. Somewhere in there someone has to play less minutes to give BMM more opportunity and also Moors/Cashmere should be getting more than 15 minutes etc.

There is nothing wrong with letting our props play big minutes if they are up to the task.

If they are pacing themselves, rather then condensing all their efforts into 50-60min stints, then whats the issue?

Obviously Sheens and our trainers would be able to see how our guys recover and handle the workload each week.

I won't be surprised when Ellis is back that Sheens slightly cuts down are their minutes

Woods would be the greater concern as it his first season as a starter

I thought it was a contact sport, therefore, from one minute, one hit up, one tackle or even a warm up, a player is susceptible to injury.

As many of you know I used to scream in frustration at why Galloway was never given longer minutes. It's really about time, his game has just gone to another level.

No problem witht he big minutes. If either of the two were moping about in games blowing big ones then I might question the practice - but at the moment - they are not.
