Woods for Tamou ?

with tamou out they cannot go in with only 2 props (merrin and fifita), the only real option is woods the youtuhful nature of the side of game one got them over the line no need to go with an old like mason but wouldnt be surprised if thats what daley goes with but really they shouldnt. is there anyone else who can take the spot mannah shouldn't be considered nor should snowden or douglas

Timmy Mannah is like our Robbie, Playing well in a very bad team at present.

Fifita to start and Woods should debut off the bench.

Tim Grant did a good job last year but I think he may be injured.

Outside Woods, it could only be Mannah. I suspect we'll be missing young Aaron. Good luck to him.

Hopefully Woodsy has done enough by now (which he has already 10 fold) because the squad will be named Sunday evening, right? Which means before he runs out against

Tamou had to be dropped , his actions lacked maturity so he needed this kick up the butt.

NSWRL did the right thing and Tamou has only himself to blame , footballers are not above the law.

So my guess was Tamou to go , set an example to the juniors that a NSW guernsey should be a reward for hard work and being a model citizen. Tamou will never ever take a NSWRL blue guernsey for granted again , if he gets another chance that is !

Daley might even follow Queenslands ploy of naming OUR team after Monday night , I would do it just to annoy them that bit more , lol.

Could be a great week for Tigers supporters if we beat the donkeys and NSW win . :deadhorse:

wait for it…. Willie Mason or Tim Mannah will get the nod!

I know you're probably joking Watto, but I'll bet my house that they'll choose Mason. That he's even being considered is a joke though, imo.

To be honest I thought Tamou was our least effective forward (and was surprised!).
Really hope that Woods gets a shot.

he's dropped. and 20k fine.

Woods MUST get a spot… wish he could play both tigers and origin. We'll need him

Although, luckily raiders don't have a monster pack.

Also, saw some pics/videos of training and Big Red was there? looked pretty fit, no sling or anything. Also the doc said he's making great progress. I think we could see him July if we're lucky. Pure speculation though.

Woods is a starter, he plays quality over longer minutes. Impact in shorter bursts is what Fifita is great at.

I say Woods should start. I know Origin is much more intense, but Woods has withstood everything in his career so far. Thats what I'd do.

In fact, I'd drop Reynolds, move Hoffman to the bench, Gallen to Lock, Lewis to 2nd row and Woods/Mannah to start.

Hoffman was ineffective going into the last quarter. He was tired and looked gone. Reduce his role to the last ~60min to avoid that happening.

Personally I never would have had him in the side for game I, but now he is there, might as well keep him for stability.

If Mason gets a start in the NSW team that's it for me. I'll still hope they win every time they play but I'll never again think that the selectors/officials/hangerson/namedroppers have the best interest of the game or the state at heart.

Even in his hey day, Mason was big, big, big….........and lazy!

I haven't seen many Tiger's forwards in the last few (many) years with as much upside as Woods. No big head and a big heart. The Fultons, Galloways, Farrahs, Heighingtons etc will always have a special place in Tiger's history. But I don't think we've seen a player with the POTENTIAL of Woods since Sironen. Properly managed, he will be a rep player and a Tiger hero for a long time.

thought Hoffman was pretty good tbh. but agree can only really see Woods getting the go ahead unless they move Fifita or Merrin to #10 and take an extra backrower on the bench.

I also reckon that Souths suffer from the same "Origin Deprivation Syndrome" that the Tigers have copped over the years. How Sutton is not selected in the NSW Origin team somewhere amazes me. I don't care how he gets fitted in but when push comes to shove I want him in my corner.

Souths have not suffered the same deprivation. Plenty of years where they were consistently taking the spoon yet had Fletch/Wing/Wesser/Walker and probably more making squads. They were never in any sort of rep drought like WT have gone through.

The media beat up of "Souths snubbed by Blues!" this year was a beatup to spike readers attention, nothing more.

LaT, I live in Vic so haven't seen any of the "Souths snubbed by Blues" beat ups. They don't deliver the Tele down here thank God!

We get two games Friday night and one on Sunday afternoon and from the games I've watched this year, the man I'm most impressed with is Sutton. Happy for you to educate me otherwise though.

The upside (at the expense of the players' careers) is that every potential rep player that is not selected turns up for the Tigers on a SOO weekend!

CK I don't believe this , but I'm going to agree with you

Tamou wasn't that great Game 1

Daley's a boofhead, the way he was speaking on FSN this afternoon suggests Grant, Mason and even Kade Snowden :unamused: are ahead of Woods in the race to secure Tamou's vacated position for SOO 2.

It appears he's skeptical of debuting Woods in such a 'hostile' environment being Lang Park. Well Laurie, everyone who's played SOO had to start somewhere champ (that includes yourself) and out of the others you've mentioned Woods has clearly been the stand out (playing in a pack that has been largely dominated all year).

I refuse to buy into this bullshit of young players not being able to handle pressure, especially in a game like State of Origin which is proven to bring the best out players. Look at the way Woods has handled pressure week in week out for us (he's one of the few who's showed fight in him when the goings have gotten tough).

If Tim Grant is available he'd be my pick (he never should have been axed in the first place). If he is out I'd be happy with either Mannah or Woods.
