WOODS has been picked for SOO 2!

Congrats to Woodsy on a well deserved selection. Should have been there for game 1, but I reckon he'll be there for game 3 now.

This kid is one of the best I've seen come into first grade. He has had one poor (only by his standards) game in three years. That is an amazing level of consistency.

Terrific news
Congrats to Woodsy
Kill those pussy maroons !!

This will only make him a better player!!!
How good's that

about time, should have been picked in origin 1, he WONT disappoint anyone
he will be there from now on through all of his career barring injury

So stoked for Woodsy. Hard to really argue with his selection, even if Grant had been fit. I know he won't let his teammates down. This will aid his development in a big way now too. Soak it up Az!

I just hope the refs don't penalize Woods for ridiculous things to piggyback Queensland for a win to level the series and ensure game 3 has huge ratings… Then he'd be a scapegoat like Farah in 09... :/

As he prepared for an NRL match at Suncorp Stadium, Aaron Woods received a phone call from NSW coach Laurie Daley, informing him he would be playing at the same ground on Wednesday week. The Wests Tigers prop, who will play against Brisbane on Monday night, was disbelieving at first.
>
''I said: 'Can you keep a secret? Mate, you're going to be part of Origin II,' '' Daley said on Sunday, as he recalled telling Woods of his Blues selection just hours before he made the official announcement. ''He was like, 'You serious?' I said 'yep'. And I said, 'But mate, you can't tell anyone'. He said 'all right'. There was a pause, and then he said, 'Can I tell my mum?' I said, 'Mate, you can tell your mum, but tell her to keep it quiet.'''

Whether Woods' mother kept her end of the bargain is not known. Another unknown is how Woods, in good form for the Tigers this season, will fare in his promotion to the State of Origin arena. The 22-year-old has been called into the side to replace James Tamou, who was suspended as a result of a drink-driving charge.
>
Daley had considered Penrith's Tim Grant, but ultimately decided that the broken hand he is recovering from would rule him out of contention. Asked why he opted for Woods, Daley said: ''His form and the fact that he's been playing football in long minutes. The injury to Tim Grant probably came at the wrong time for Tim. Broken hand … and Aaron has just been playing really well.''

Provided he gets through Monday night's clash unscathed, Woods will likely train for the first time with the Blues squad on Thursday. Woods is likely to start, as Daley keeps his bench intact.
>
Despite the enormity of the situation, Daley had no hesitation in picking Woods. ''Aaron's certainly handled every challenge that he's confronted so far this year,'' Daley said. ''He's a big kid, he's a tough kid, and he's very talented.
>
''In an Origin game, no matter where you play, it's always going to be very difficult, it's always going to be a challenge. We believe that Aaron will be up to it. He doesn't have to play long minutes, as he does with the Wests Tigers. He's just got to do a job for us, and we're confident that he will.''
