Woods next Blues Captain...

If the Philippines can vote in Rodrigo Duterte as president and the USA maybe Donald Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon then why not Woodsy for prime minister - we can match them mate.

Aaron Woods can’t wait to pull on a Blues jersey for State of Origin 1

THERE’S a reason Aaron Woods’ name is being thrown around as the successor to Paul Gallen as NSW captain. He’s relentless, he’s tough, he’s physical, and above all he hasn’t forgotten that rugby league is a sport and it’s supposed to be fun.

No footy fan will forget for a while the moment the lumbering forward crossed for a four-pointer in game two last year, or the smile on the long-haired larrikin’s face when NSW took the series in 2014.

The picture-perfect moments are a snapshot of why Woods was born to play Origin footy, and his workrate and run metres week-in-week out show why his name is one of the first Laurie Daley writes down when deciding on his squad each match.

At Wests Tigers he captains a youthful group who are all about flair — something which unfortunately doesn’t always pay off for them.

But at Origin level, Woods knows it’s about the grind, and it’s about limiting mistakes and making the most of any opportunity.

“To win this first game we’re going to have to make the one per cent plays,” he said.

“All the little things are what makes the difference at Origin.

“I think we got that right through game one and two last year, but we slackened off a bit in that area in game three.”

Since his last outing with the Blues, Woods has been promoted to captain at Wests Tigers but he said his extra-responsibilities at club level wouldn’t effect how he approached Origin.

“Laurie gives us a job each game,” he said.

“The most important thing is you’ve got to take ownership of what you do.

“The standard of guys we’ve got running around, we all take some of that (leadership) on, but that’s what Origin’s about.”

Woods said that there’s nothing quite like pulling on a blue jumper, and said his highlights so far have been scoring that try last year and the win in 2014.

While a stand-alone star of the game, Woods said that one of the best things for his game was having his good mate Robbie Farah playing alongside him.

“Having Robbie there helps me massively,” he said.

“It’s the hooker who is passing you the ball, so having the guy you play week-in-and-out with in that role is pretty great.

“When you come into a new side, you always want to get to know the hooker, he’s definitely one of the most important people to know.

“And Robbie does such a great job, and it’s to his credit that he’s come back from that concussion and he’s worked really hard to get himself ready for this game.

“He’s done really well to look after his body and get here, and it’s great to have him in the team.”

i thought hes actually been pretty good this year - toned down the larikinism a fair bit especially in pressers and on the field

leads by example and i think he's working harder for the tigers this year than any other (with limited games). he really works harder in getting quick play the balls now and fighting for extra yardage

very happy with him captaining the club for many years and hopefuly origin too

:righton:

Matty Johns Show - Woods being interviewed and says he hasn't seen Robbie at training for the Tigers for weeks, then all of a sudden he rocks up at origin camp haha. Said tongue in cheek but funny because it's most peoples opinion of him, placing more importance on origin than our club.
