Woods

He has personality…...not a bad thing in my opinion. He was great in origin and i thought very good on Friday night. You got to realise its hard for props to shine if you don't get your share of the ball and when you do its in bad field position.

Hmmm…this is a massive question for the club, I think. I share some misgivings about his mindset and perceived arrogance. My gut feeling is that he is on a similar trajectory to Benji, That is, a huge talent but as much a liability as an asset. Yes, he may be a media favourite and a "superstar" in the eyes of those who don't play with him or follow him on a weekly basis.

But...seriously...is he positioned somewhere on the autism spectrum? That is not to disparage or denigrate those who are, but I think it would help a lot of us understand him better if we knew.

If he's not, then someone needs to drag him aside and tell him pretty quickly that his body language, antics on the field, presentation and communication skills are often unhelpful in building cohesion, consistency and in a team sport.

Undoubtedly he's a talent but ...sigh......just not sure about him.

I actually cannot believe what I just read here . For a "supporter" to dig as to refer to someone on the "autism spectrum" who we are all well aware is not is truly tragic !
How dare you refer to ones state in such a manner
This forum is sickening at times . One week you are as proud as punch of Woods and Farah representing the state and West Tigers as a team for NSW and the next week you will shoot them down without skipping a heartbeat !
This happens continually to several players . You watch next week you will be praising him to the heavens above and forget all that was said in this rubbish feed .
Have a good look at yourself so called "supporters" jealously is a curse .

Well, it just goes to show your lack of understanding of the AS and how it can manifest itself in personal characteristics. And, I'm over people like you using words like "we are all well aware"… who said we are? But, if you are correct and there is no particular reason for the way he presents, then I hope Plan B is enacted quickly. That is, drag him aside, smack him around the ear and tell him to get his ego under control. Then, maybe, we'll see the best of him on a more consistent basis. And, while they're at it, teach him to play the freakin ball properly.

I'm with DG on this one. I think it's a bit much to start mentioning autism because the kid can be a bit of a lair sometimes.

I also think it is wrong to be making assumptions about a player's personality based on a field on-field incidents that you don't like. You say he needs his ego under control, but I say it is arrogant of you to be assuming you know anything about the kid apart from a few bits and pieces.

As an example, I cannot stand Michael Ennis on the football field, I think he is a grub and a pest. He has baited players in the past and nearly had his head smacked in for it. But I know people who have met him in person and said he is a lovely bloke.

Don't assume on-field behaviour is an indication of anything - Todd Carney was an angel on the field.

Huh? You've clearly missed the use of the word "spectrum". But, to say that you "know anything" about Michael Ennis because "you know people who've met him"…..????? That's ludicrous.

I do know something about Ennis because I know people who have met him, as in actually spoken to him, spent time in his presence. Therefore I know what they think about him. That qualifies as something.

From your comments you've never met or spoken to Woods, you don't know anyone who has, you've only observed him from a very long distance as a supporter. I would argue that kind of observation is the least effective method of understanding someone's personality, slightly in front of never having seen / met / heard of them at all.

You questioned whether Woods was on the autism spectrum because of what you've seen. My point with Ennis that despite what I've seen of him in the same context, I have it on good authority that he's not how he appears to me on TV. The day I meet Ennis myself I will be able to confirm for sure. But you are right, the point is I don't really know that much about him - nor do you about Woods! So we shouldn't be making speculations about their mental health.

re spectrum, I don't know what you mean about missing the use of the word. You asked if Woods is somewhere on the autism spectrum, i.e. does he have a neurodevelopmental disorder. I don't think that is appropriate to speculate, nor do I think we as supporters are entitled to know about it in order to "help a lot of us understand him better if we knew".

If you are now backpedalling about your use of "spectrum" to mean the full and wide range of personality types, then we are all on the spectrum somewhere and your comments are meaningless.

Please feel free to clarify what you mean, or just leave your inappropriate comments alone to die along with this thread in a few days.

My comments are as meaningless as your insights into Ennis. A friend of mine told me Tony Abbott is something other than a misogynistic, opportunistic, lying fool. He is now an ex-friend.
