Worst refereeing in any sport

Are we able to poach refs from union of AFL?

Its the people, not the structures that are letting the standard slip

We focus too much on referees. The fact is they are human and make mistakes, but we analyse every decision to the nth degree.

What you say is true Tommy, but there seems to be fundamental mistakes being made on a rather constant basis.

It was always going to eventuate that refs would be scrutinised more thanks to television replays and such, and I can cop small mistakes being made and let go that you really could only pick up through replays, but it seems the most basic of errors happen all too often as well. Even the video referee has made clangers with endless footage at their disposal.

What needs to be stamped out of the game is the forward pass, the amount of passes being let go is astounding.

What? I watched this game as an unbiased hater of both teams - I thought the refereeing was reasonable - the only points were Lyons penalty try which was no way a try - the ball wa behind him and was not 100 per cent going to be a try and the probable forward pass pass in the rorters final try- they evened each other out.

Agreed. I can only remember 2 or 3 50/50 decisions that could go either way with the biggest call of the match going Manly's way. I think everyone has to remember that the focus on referees is coming from a club that blames everyone other than themselves for losing a match.

Here is what happened: Manly blew a 10 point lead with 20 minutes left in a grand final. What happened to that "winning culture" they bleated about before the match? If it was St. George-Illawarra or Souths everyone would be screaming "chokers".
