Worst Tigers Team

Yesterday we didn't make a line break. Only 2 of our backs have scored a try after 5 rounds. If not for the intercept it would have been 5 halves of football without a try. - Not sure if they are the worst but definitely in the conversation
It is coaching and lack of ability our players possess. Just a horrible mix.

Hi Everyone
My old man and I were watching the game both long suffering Tigers supporters, the old man said something that made me think. He reckons this is the worst Tigers team in our history, including Taylor Ball and the two years under Terry lamb. He said even back then we had a player or two who was capable of doing something to light the game up like Kevie McGuinnes. But this team has no one to get excited about ATM, I told him once Hastings or Douhi get back it might change, but it made me think I kind of agree with him, can any of you guys remember a worse Tigers team than the one we have now ?
I don’t know that they understand what a team is?
It’s almost like half the side are trying to get the coach sacked and the other half are either disappointed or angry with them.
Some players in the team look like they want to lose.
The place stinks to me. But the coach and captains say they’re having a ball at training and executing perfectly.
🤔

I don't think so. We have had worse teams, remember when Patterson was playing wing one day. We had guys like the Schirnack brothers, Lovett, Lolohea etc in our starting 13. Man to man, this team isn't that bad, at least on potential.

The differences are that they're all a shadow of their best selves and the comp has moved so far ahead of us it's not funny. You could see it coming, we were moving 1 step forward when others were taking 5 steps forward.

I don't think we have hit rock bottom yet. Papali'i and Api are great signings but second row and hooker isn't really that big a problem for us.

I can maybe see Laurie and Stefano improving next year but Offa, Noffa, Twal, Garner, Musgrove and Maumalo will be a year older and slower. Tamou was horrible last year but hasn't been as bad this year.

Lots and lots and lots of hopes are riding on Douehi and Hastings.. neither of them realise what they're walking into yet..

We are yet to see the worst Tigers team, I can only see it getting worse.

It's a real worry just how far down rock bottom might be.

And Terry Hill always injured. Didn't we win sometimes from a Corey Pearson late offload?
Yeah 2 game Terry....I remember playing lock and going well... Corey Pearson.....
We have been in a worse spot..
In saying that though,it wasn't too much longer before our juniors started coming though
and we got Prince,Hodgo and some other good players came along.

I remember around 4-6 years ago the Tigers were being slammed regarding they could score points from anywhere on the field, but could not defend if their life depended on it.
NOW not only can't we DEFEND we are unable and don't even look like we can even score, and to make matters worse, even all the T.V hosts can't believe how bad we are and getting worse.

The lack of effort makes this years team the worst. I’ve been a Wests Tigers/Balmain supporter all my life and I’ve never seen the team look as disinterested as they did on Sunday.

The club is well and truly in the proverbial. I hope they turn it around but it just feels impossible at this point when you look at our losing streak as a whole including the bulldogs game last year.

2001-2002 under Terry Lamb were the worst years. The great Hassan Saleh and Ahmad Bajouri on the wings. Ben Black at halfback. They were a dark couple of seasons. Some have pointed out 03, but that was the start of some improvement with Sheens taking over. Both Benji and Farah debuted. Underrated players like John Wilson. It wasn’t the greatest year but we started winning back some respectability after being Field and McGuiness and then Hoppa dragged the image of the club down.

The thrashing by the wooden spooners last game last year was the worst performance I can remember but Sunday against sharks had a lot of similarities

Worst is yet to come 😭

It’s pretty upsetting where we are at considering we had the entire salary cap to spend not long ago after we had been burdened by overpaid players consuming a significant amount of it.

We put ourselves in a position where we were able to develop juniors whilst signing a marquee player or two to assist in their development.

What we actually did was sign over-paid, over-aged players from bottom-end clubs who we hoped would regain some kind of form. That clearly didn’t happen and we find ourselves in another hole that will need years to dig ourselves out of.

Keeping Madge unfortunately will not be tenable because there are strong expectations that we perform and that cannot happen for at least another few years. However, this is partly his fault and so he needs to wear some of the blame.

The recruitment has been near nil, it’s not as though we are signing players. We have persisted with the same mob for a couple of years.

He can’t be blamed for re-signing Brooks because he was in career top form at the time. What he can be blamed for is keeping him despite interest from other clubs. I don’t know who negotiated his salary but whoever it was needs to be sacked.

In terms of juniors, Laurie showed some promise, the ute is a gun, and the rest are promising. Signing Peachey was clearly stupid but its not that bad considering his salary.

I’m not a fan of Koroisau signing. Papali’i is good but at the same time we lost two of our best players who he simply replaces.

Now the major issue for which Madge cannot cop the blame for is the toxic culture embedded within our club and system. You know why that is? That is because of the board and CEO. It’s all about gaining a profit without any regard for junior development and systems being put in place.

We need to develop a strong junior system where players come through the system together and have a purpose, they want to win and they want to do it together. They are hungry to succeed together, i.e Panthers juniors.

We had that at some stages, including when Koro, Nofa, etc. came through together. Benji, Farah etc. Brooks, Moses, Tedesco, Woods etc.

That was our chance but we blew it. We need to focus on developing juniors and cleaning our cap. This process needed to start 5 years ago.

Hagipantalis coming out and saying that the criticism towards Brooks is bullying.
No wonder we are not getting anywhere. I totally understand his sentiment and would never condone bullying but calling someone out for lack of performance isn't bullying.
It shows the cancer in our club, it's the soft underbelly at the Tigers the total lack of mental strength. As soon as something goes against us we turn to water, instead of the ceo partaking in the current culture he should be working to get rid of it. Not specifically Brooks, but the walk on eggshells mentality.

The way he plays is fair game as far as I’m concerned. But when that bleeds over to him being called names like imp and other personal attacks is where I draw the line. He’s never behaved in a way to warrant any personal attacks, never assaulted anyone, never dragged the clubs name through the mud. When you start becoming that vindictive towards a player because their only crime is not measuring up on the field, you need to do some self evaluation, as it means you’re probably way too invested in a stupid game of football.
