Would you get rid of Robbie next year if......

If I was Farah it would be a decision to move on to ESL would earn top $ .. Enjoy soccer..see the world for a few years.. Having achieved everything in league not have to be bashed as much and still single all good to me.

He had earned the right to play for us as long as he wants to. But he has to understand that he needs to go it for less money or he is strangling the club. The decision is, does he want to play s few more years at the Tigers for less $$, or would he like the experience and cash that goes with playing Super League.

I'd have no qualms with Robbie moving on. Assuming its the other club paying the difference and not us paying him to leave. With the money that is freed up we could potentially bring in 3 experienced players who would offer much better value then what Robbie currently does. Think what Penrith did by releasing Lewis and Jennings and see how much it has payed off. So its a Yes from me.

NO. Robbie is one of a kind and can not be replaced, because he bleeds everything WT. A great club man and we are so lucky to have him!

maybe we could just release them all and i could send down my local a-grade side, then we would be under the cap, MAYBE. Iam getting tired of this clubs stuff ups.

Why are we in salary cap problems at the moment…because we've released players whilst still on contract.
We can't keep paying players who aren't playing for us.

Yes only if we are able to sign a quality centre and quality second rower if not keep him as we need experience and don't want another two "Plodders"

His form needs to pick up in 2016 if he stays.

would be very stupid imo.. he is Wests Tigers. we hardly have 100 games combined in our spine without robbie. there is a reason why he's our leader- he's a kangaroo and an origin captain.

no doubt he has his moments of selfishness, errors and misjudgements but he deserves the money he's on and to finish off as a one club legend- possibly the only one in our short history.

in 2016 Cherrington will be ready for FG…If I were the WT I would have the balls to let Farah go after this year...would solve much of our cap issue and set ourselves in a new direction for 2016 and beyond.

😱pen_mouth:

Robbie is our One club Player. Our clubs Soul. Like Gallen for the Sharks

He is in Prime still despite the current Injury.

Only if he went to superleague and didn't cost us money or cap space. Matt Ballin would be a good replacement

Gee, it really is the off season already isn't it.

I remember feeling like this many, many years ago with Balmain. I don't like it.

Coming last.
Chairperson admits to more very lean years ahead.
No signings

Now we want to dump our captain?
I was critical of Farah last year re-Potter & Tallis but I think that he at least deserves to retire properly as a one club player. Retire on his terms, too.

It's a yes from me.

I don't think he is a good captain. Never have.

He can also be selfish in games, making the wrong calls, especially of late. We do look the best with cherrington on the field.

I have loved Robbie as a player for our club. but he just isn't worth the $900,000 he is being paid. If releasing him would allow us to bring our salary cap into line and sign a centre and backrower we need. I would be happy to let him explore a big money option in the super league.

before everyone jumps on me. he is still a good player. But not $900,000 good. It's just not value for money. And he is not a good captain, everybody can remember the gordon Tallis saga? How many other captains get in a slanging match with the media?

This thought came to mind during this whole salary cap mess, but the flat out answer is no.

Apart from the fact that Robbie is an absolutely outstanding player, his leadership value is too important to pass up.
Also, he is a marquee signing. We get rid of him and then what? Most likely we would sign a bunch of plodders…or at least players that would look like plodders without proper leadership.

Robbie should go back to 80 min games. He is not playing his natural game at the moment and it is costing us.

Yes…. Players of Farah's ilk are lining up to join the Wests Tigers aren't they...

Well that's why you would sort the deal out beforehand

IF it was a good replacement and we could pocket a couple of hundred K out of the deal well you have to seriously look at it

But as I said previously its a moot point

Cherrington isn't ready yet

It's not NRL Fantasy League…We are out of trades.... :unamused:

Here's a quote from Farah after he re signed in 2013…

"Things happen that make you upset or cranky, but I see it as my responsibility to lead this club out of the tough times and turn it around.

"That's the challenge before me and I don't take it lightly. Sometimes you think it's all too hard and you need a fresh start to get away from it all. But realistically, when I sat down to think about wearing the colours of another club it just didn't feel right to me.

"I want to win and be successful. But winning at another club just wouldn't have been the same as the Tigers."

He now has the opportunity to captain his club for a decade and reach the 300-game milestone in the same colours.

"That legacy matters just as much - if not more - as success on the field," he said.

Robbie should absolutely be retained and allowed to make his own choice about if or when he goes elsewhere or retires. It's a no-brainer.

Nope, wouldn't release him, wouldn't re-sign him after his current contract expires though, Cherrington is our future and will be ready for the step up.

Too experienced to lose Robbie next year. If we were travelling bit better and our side wasn't so young, yeah maybe.

He should go when his contract ends.
