Would you release Molten

Based on the fact that he will see little first grade do you think we wound be willing to release him to Melbourne storm.

And who said he will see little first grade? Tim believes he will be the 5/8

All "Spell our players names correctly" jokes aside, I don't mind that idea at all - Without Marshall dominating play, Moltzen will be forced to rip in, and that will only be of benefit to him.

…We don't have a player by that name....

I believe he wants us to act like a volcano and release molten lava over the Melbourne Storm club, so as to move us up a place on the ladder.

No. I believe that in 2014 he will not be forced to play fullback and will therefore play in much more suitable positions. He has great utility value and 2014 is likely to be his best season with Wests Tigers. Releasing Moltzen is something Wests Tigers would regret.

I'm as guilty as the next person of typing some bad typos but I have to admit this thread title made be laugh!!!

cost/benefit

I don't see the point of offloading him unless he gets a big offer and wants to leave.

He'll be either a 5/8, bench or backup player this season. Even if we release him, more likely to the UK, we would be unlikely to find a replacement with similar experience on the market. It might free up some cap space but I don't think we really need to do that.

With lots of kids coming through Moltzen is now one of the experienced players in the squad. I don't rate him, but he's a handy option in backup. And who knows the loss of his BFF may make him come out of his shell and bust his ass to try and prove himself.

After the Saint George debacle and two knee recos who will want him and who will pay anything near what we are probably paying him ??

Looking at how long it took him to recover from his last knee injury but physically and mentally, I very much doubt we'll see much of Moltzen in grade at all this year. For mine he's behind Anasta and Austin for the 6 jersey. Perhaps a year in state cup would be of benefit for him. It won't be easy recovering mentally from 2 knee recos and another positional switch.

Not unless we could buy a good 5/8 for 2014.

might as well keep him and give him a shot, he could surprise us just like he did at FB in 2013\. Maybe everyone has forgotten but he was very strong before his ACL and forced teddy to the wing. many on here thought he performed well, me included.

Forced Tedesco to the wing? Puh-lease. Tedesco was coming back from his own ACL and had only played 30mins of first grade. Starting him at fullback in Rd 1 would have been suicide. It was only a matter of time before he moved there, not any of Moltzen's doing.

Thank goodness for this post, I thought I was losing my mind, when I read how good Moltzen was at full-back in 2013\. I thought I must have missed those games for a moment.

That all said, molten surprised me with his form at the start of the 2013 season, he was definitely committed!

Something that I thought had been lacking in years gone by.

Hopefully where ever he may play, he is ready, fit and committed.

you clearly don't remember tedesco's games on the wing while moltzen was at fullback:

1:23, that's moltzen with a trysaver

or teddy's stuff up under the high ball the first time we played the sharks

and a thread with me defending tedesco in ROUND 19!:

Thing is, the team is moving in a direction where Moltzen doesn't seem to fit in. If he wants to be a first choice half or fullback, its becoming clear that he may need to look elsewhere.

That said, there is value in having someone like him as a backup, question is will he be happy playing NSW Cup? I think a few years in ESL might be calling him very soon, he will kill it over there.
