Would you support the WT if they moved to WA ?

Both Wests & Balmain supporters were unhappy when we merged back in the day. We all knew that it would never be the same again but most of us got over it. As I said previously, I would still support the team but it would take a while.
I wonder what (if any) devious motives Ben Elias has in his talks with WA people. Maybe these talks would put a whole new meaning on the term "Backdoor Benny".

If it came down to survival then I would support, just as I did the merger.

Otherwise let one of the other teams make the move.

And there is the obligatory Benny Elias insult…

A fabricated rumour of a move to WA with zero evidence but apparently Elias is behind it. You might as well speculate if Trevor Cogger is the driving force behind this hypothetical move...

Gee..you seem to have a thin skin! I qualified the statement with: (if any). Sorry if I offended you.

It's nothing to do with having a thin skin. This (the "move" to WA) isn't even a real thing and yet your questioning Elias's involvement. How can you be involved in something that doesn't exist? But you followed that up by using an insulting nickname to describe him.

There's no need to apologise, just stop blaming Benny Elias for everything that goes wrong - real or imagined.

It's not a matter of loosening up. The forum is not an excuse for people like yourself to take pot shots at Ben Elias. Stop posting crap and there's no problem.

For me it is a betrayal to relocate. Wouldnt care if it was to the Central Coast, if it were a full time move that would be it.

I went in with the JV initially because it guaranteed survival in unknown times and still saw us playing out of Leichhardt even if it were reduced. To have made that sacrifice as two clubs only to go to the other side of the country while teams like the Roosters remained would be the last straw for me personally

It would be a betrayal by the NRL. I would like to think that there is no way the NRL would allow Wests Tigers or St. George-Illawarra to relocate. Both clubs have already made a sacrifice for the betterment of the game. It should not happen again to those fans.

If we were forced to relocate, the last straw for me would actually be to see Manly and Cronulla continue to survive playing at Brookvale & Shark Park respectively. At least the Roosters play at the SFS, a ground that meets the "criteria" of 1999\. Manly and Cronulla epitomise the major issue that hangs around the NRL like a bad smell - club self interest. The game cannot move forward with dead wood clinging to the game pushing their own specific interests.

I agree 100%. WT and STI have made the ultimate sacrifice for the game (giving up their individual identities) and should be locked into sydney forever. Its teams like sharks and roosters that should be considered for re-location.

The magpies (collingwood AFL variety) is the most popular and followed football brand in Australia.

Agree with Gary and WTFL, it would be a massive betrayal by the NRL given everything that two foundation clubs were erased from the top league in one foul swoop.

If we were expected to do it again, I'd probably walk away from supporting a team, I'd be so disenfranchised.

The likelihood of it happening though? Not impossible but very unlikely.

Why do they same people defend the same individuals time after time time after time

Its like they have been appointed these public figures own personal knight in shining armor

I was a fanatical Newtown RLFC supporter for a continous 20 year period from the time I was a boy until they were sacked from the main competition in 1983\. Newtown then played in a minor competition but I could not bring myself to support them - for the simple reason that they were being used as fodder feeder for clubs like Cronulla and Roosters. My allegiance changed to Balmain and West Tigers and it is something I have never regretted. Moving WT to W.A. would be a duplication of what happened to Newtown after 1983\. So my answer as to whether I would support Wests Tigers if they moved to W.A. is a very resounding NO!

I doubt it will be the tigers, but someone needs to move out of sydney. I think it should be the sharks honestly.

Can someone confirm, that 30 40 years ago the roosters considered moving to liverpool? My grandfather thinks was the case.

I was really young when this all happened, am i correct in saying this was offered to newtown, and they knocked it back, only for wests to move there later on, i vaguely remember the wests move and my grand dad talking about newtown should of done it.
Can some one fill me in on what happened there

They should relocate them to Queensland and be based at Langlands Park… There is already a Tigers Leagues Club there waiting

I would be able to see every home game!! Howevder, Langlands Park would need a massive overhaul and I can't see the QLD government - especially with Can stuff the State Campbell in charge - forking out for a new stadium. It would mean every game being played at Suncorp - a place that just reeks of Donkey.

And you'd still have to tell them Easts Tigers no hopers to move on as well

They would most certainly give us a bad name

Maybe we could move them to Ipswich and instead of the Jets we could use another aircraft and be known as the Wests Tiger Moths ?????

Am I a genius or what 😱pen_mouth:
