It was like Andrew Willis' drop goal in 1996\. He was also a five eighth and he kicked a drop goal from the halfway line in the last minute of the game which gave the mighty Western Suburbs Magpies a victory over North Sydney Bears by 1 point. It went through the posts at the same end as tonight too. I was only 16 at the time but I remember it clearly. The look on Jason Taylor's face was priceless.

gee i could see that one coming out as soon as benjis lamded …......

I can't believe it's been 14 years. Time has gone so quickly.

That was unbelievable. He was under pressure and was standing still, cant believe it.

Yeah IMO it was better than lockyer for the fact the he was standing still and was under pressure.

Best field goal I've ever seen. With no momentum behind him he gave it a real whack.

Willis' goal was way better; it was from quite a wide angle although it was inside half way. But that is irrelevant, it was a great kick by Marshall.

Thats Benji 4 ya. He can frustrate the living daylights out of the supporters and with 1 play we'll love him to death again. I thought Lockyers field goal was amazing. benji's is even better. that would have to be the biggest in NRL history wouldn't it? i am sure everyone who saw it and the rest who will see it in the future would rate it as one of the best, if not THE best, field goal ever when you take into account the facotrs: 50-51m out, under pressure with a defender chargin at him, last play of the half, Benji goes BANG n nails it. N the fact that it ended up winning us the game made it that much more special.

This is Andrew Willis' field goal from 1996.

The crowd went nuts and thousands ran onto the field.

This is Francios Steyn - South African 5/8th…...this man is the daddy of all drop goal afficionados.

I'm showing my age but I remember when field goals were worth 2 points and there were quite a few exponents then.

Eric Simms from South’s springs to mind and he could kick them from anywhere. I seem to remember a couple at Henson Park one day that were well over the halfway mark.

I think Eric still holds the record of 19 field goals in a season and also the most in a single match being 5\. Because Eric was so good at it is one of the reasons field goals were reduced to 1 point.

in our defense they are all in union where drop goals are attempted at least twice a match…for a 50m field foal to be done in league is phenomenal..

I was there live and as soon as it came off his boot I called it. "Thats gonna make it" I said. Sometimes you just know.

The kick was unbelievable. Huge. What a play.

Was it mostly the wind that caused the ball to do that?
