WT board: pull your heads in

Plenty of the argument floating around re: Mick Potter seemed to be that the WT board didn't think he was the right coach to develop our young potential superstars into a premiership- winning team. If the board do not pull their heads in and stop this nonsense that they have persisted with these last couple of season's, with both Sheens and most definitely Potter then these gifted young players will not even stay with our club, they will move on to more professionally run clubs. Could you imagine being a 19 year old up-and-coming kid and having to be amongst such a shoddy mess as what WT board is? They will run for the hills if management do not sort this sort of crap out.

In the end, the "big" announcement aligned to everything that has been stated by Meyer and Bailey and importantly, in accordance with contract law. The only difference is that current negotiations are being put on hold till end of season - all fair enough for a guy that signed a two year contract last year.

However, this all could be been stated by the CEO on Friday. It did need to be dragged out and cost us two points.

Further, if Farah thinks Potter can't coach….who cares? Everyone can have their opinion, in fact, he may have even posted on here! If he doesn't like the Potter and the new culture at Wests, he can leave. He probably has more of his best games behind him than in front of him.

What is even more galling is that Bailey has previous media experience, albeit as an ABC employee and a very mediocre weather reader. He, above all else should know how to deal with the media. I wonder how many times he has kicked football????

Potter showed in the post match interview that he is all class, has dignity, so unlike many around him.

Bailey should step down. He has shown he is incapable of chairing anything more than a kindergarten party (if that).

I dont know who is telling the truth, All i know is the Board helped loose us that Game yesterday, Once that crap came out we were never going to win that game. The sooner this Board is gone the better.

Most people i am sure would completely agree with you.Our current board is a cancer in our club

I don't agree that the board needs to pull their heads in. They need to stick them out. They need to fix the problem that manifested itself yesterday. They need to identify those driving personal agendas and sort them out one way or another. They need to do it now.

I am really hoping that major sponsors for Wests Tigers are reading this forum. They need to tell the board to sort this now or they will withdraw their sponsorships. By the way, I'm referring in this post to the Board but the whole of senior management including the CEO needs to act on this or they will lead the club to a big loss in support.

(Mick Potter has made me PROUD to be a tiger fan again)

Brian Smith is the biggest wanker to ever conduct a review of a club. How could you not see that our club has a dis functional CEO and board. Marriage made in heaven, get it tossers.

Speaking of Tigermaniac , we need to follow through on his fantastic idea to wear your jersey's inside out for the rest of the season to show your support for Mick Potter

If you know any WT's fans going to games that are Potter supporters get on board

Lets show that the power of the people does work

Brian smith killed the roosters & parra and we get him in to evaluate our club !
What a friggin joke !

I believe the problems stem from the board
It seems obvious to me there is a leak there constantly going to the media….it seems the aim is for the team to fail. ..As ridiculous as it sounds.
Why?
Potters extension clause should he make the finals....won't he be eligible for a significant pay rise as a third year coach?
Maybe the board want another rookie coach...on a rookie salary

Am I talking rubbish?

I thought a lot about this all last night....this was all I could conclude.

Is it all far fetched?

The Weststigers board is dead they will not reappoint a new coach as the new board will be in place, the drama is the REAL problem is still at the club!

The board needed to make a call this week on the coaching issue and even preferably last night. By putting it off till the end of the season means all this anger, hate, rumors, back stabbing and treachery will fester and grow over the coming weeks.

We needed strong leadership and got a band aide solution. Either they think Potter is the man to take us forward or they don't. If they have doubts in the guy, flick him now and either put in a care taker coach or appoint a coach. Other wise get behind him 100% and reward him with a two year contract. This will squash all the crap going on now. The only problem was our board had a emergency meeting and decided to do nothing, everyday they look more like a political party, and a bad one at that

Your not talking rubbish Ink , but if the board are thinking about money when it comes to getting quality coaches they are complete idiots

You get what you pay for

You can't pay for chuck steak and expect rib fillet

Yesterday was a wake up call for me to see the depth of the problems within this club. I'm too far removed from the machinations of Tigers management to even guess who is responsible for driving the destabilising agendas. Board members, assistant coaches, players any or all could be involved. I don't really care who it is. I do care that they (whoever they are) are still in positions of influence at Wests Tigers.
If the board is not capable of exposing and dealing with them then I'm sure that major sponsors are capable of exerting sufficient pressure to change things. I hope they are reading this forum and seeing the support expressed for Potter here and by the likes of Phil Gould. I hope they act on what they see.

NT If we take off our Black ,Gold and white sunnies for one second and put ourselves in the shoes of the sponsors we would come to one conclusion

I'd be getting my lawyers to find a get out clause of their sponsorship deal

Yesterday was amateur hour from every part of the club off or on field no matter which way you look at it

In the end the board is not accountable for media garbage.

Statements were made in the media that Potter is unwanted by senior players and they would walk out if he was resigned. If it were true the board would be in a difficult position.

It has now been proven to be false.

The frustrating thing is the lack of accountability by the board. I can't name everyone on the board and I'm curious if others can? They should be named in the papers. I feel sorry for Mayer as he is copping all the flack, yet I think is largely powerless in all this. Same with the players.

If a board member is leaking and they can't make decisions, how is Mayer supposed to fix this? These blokes haven't even got the NRL board in yet and it seems like one of the only things they had to do this year!

That 'decision' last night was an absolute disgrace. Are they too thick to realize that it won't do anything to quell rumors?

The sooner we get some good business people selected by the NRL in those roles, the better. These blokes obviously put their child like self indulgences over the bigger picture of the club. I'm not too sure if they are too selfish and arrogant, too dumb or a combination of both.

I'm so sick of these idiots…

IMO, they're not interested in quelling rumours. The agenda is to rid themselves of Mick so they can get another coach for less cash.

Sorry Magic but I don't buy it.

I haven't seen any proof that what was being said in the media was false. As far as I can see, the debate and 'I said - he said' continues.

The board is not responsible for the media but it is responsible to stakeholders, especially sponsors for protecting the club's image, it's brand.

When said media directly implicated the board saying that it wanted the matter resolved before the possibility of Potter embarrassing the club (READ BRAND) by making the semi finals, I would think the board would have great big flashing neon WARNING sign going off saying we better respond to this ASAP! Not fluff around, have another committee meeting and then decide to effectively say nothing of consequence. Embarrass the club by making the semi finals? I wouldn't have needed a committee meeting, I would have been on the phone to the legal team before I finished reading the article demanding a complete retraction for immediate publication.

Unless of course it was true.

+1… without having my finger on the pulse the board seems to be totally dysfunctional.
