Wests Tigers statement
Following intense speculation regarding the future of Mick Potter as Head Coach of Wests Tigers, the Club’s Board has met tonight and decided that contract negotiations will be put on hold until the side’ 2014 campaign comes to an end.

The meeting was originally convened on the basis that Mick Potter requested direction on his future.

The Board and Management fully support the coaching staff and players and want to give them every chance to push towards a top eight finish this season.

Wests Tigers Chairman Mike Bailey said that the focus for the Club needs to be on the field.
"The team has fought hard to put us in a position to compete for a top eight finish in 2014,” said Bailey. “Ongoing speculation about the Club’s three coaches is unhelpful and destabilising at a time where we need unity. Members and sponsors have voiced their disappointment at how this has been played out in the open forum. This stops now.”

Bailey went on to say that this decision was the best to allow Wests Tigers players to continue to focus on football.
"At no stage have the players approached the Board on matters relating to the coaching staff.”

Head Coach Mick Potter confirmed that he shares the Board’s sentiment.
"Ideally I would have like to have had this sorted months ago but am happy to put this to one side until our team’s future is known."

The Club will make no further comment on this issue.

They needed to convene a board meeting to decide that?!!!…

What a joke of a club....Mayer could've ended all this speculation over the weekend and said just that but he didn't have the nuts to do so!...

Just when you thought the WT board could get any more inept, along comes this statement.

Clowns.

Enjoy the spiral down. I'm feeling this is a good time to check out.

They had to have a board meeting to reveal what we already thought was the case, well yes because someone leaked something to the contrary I suppose.

What a bunch of little men ,one day this club might just get a leader to finally for fill the destiny that this club deserves . This board would not have enough courage to fill a thimbable.

The Board and Management fully support the coaching staff

I think you are missing the point…the death nell for many a coach over the years...

That is the right thing to do. It makes me think that all of this drama is just the media making stuff up.

It does seem like a media beat up, yet for some reason people in here are threatening to withdraw all support and email the CEO….

There's some crap floating around about Farah wanting out and going to the Broncos but it looks like a totally bs rumour made up out of thin air. Someone in some influence is actively screwing with us imo. I reckon the NRL are trying to break the side down so they can move us out of Sydney.

That's my conspiracy of the day.

Cronulla whingers want their theory back, MacDougall.

Bailey is a friggin' idiot.

He wants the speculation to stop, so he decides it's best to not make any decisions until the season is over after causing all this unrest in the first place! People will be speculating for the rest of the season now FFS!!!

I think if they wanted Potter, he would have been signed by now. Potter is obviously not part of the decision either. It seems like this rubbish has been spread about him internally and the board have not included him in discussions about how he will respond to this so called communication problem he has.

He's conducted himself with grace and poise through a difficult time….in a game full of ego's, whingers and wankers, Mick is a role model and someone to look up to.

I can only hope the right thing is done by Mick....

Tigers - Divided board and supporter base, strange catchment lines, 2 suburban grounds and fans that want them to stay = off field turmoil.
Sharks - Low crowd figures, history of poor performance, tiny catchment, suburban ground that fans want to stay = off field turmoil.
Manly - Small non traveling supporter base, tiny catchment, suburban ground that's the only ground fans would go to watch them play = off field turmoil.

#sabotage #reptilianelite

"Full support of the board" = dead man walking

It's a really stupid move putting it off to the end of the season. This gives us zero chance of signing any new players. Who will want to come here if they don't know who will be coaching them?

Quote Snake *What a bunch of little men" I couldn't have said it better myself.
I've posted this elsewhere but I'm just boring enough to copy to here.
Unlike many others I value Phil Gould's opinions on teams and coaching. He expressed astonishment about Potters treatment, given his performance with this emerging team. He expressed the opinion (not a quote) that if Potter is sacked it must down to internal influences and not performance.
As an unashamed Potter supporter I am certainly glad that he was not sacked tonight, but in my opinion, the lily livered management did not go far enough and express support for Potter and his obvious achievements. Gutlessly, they are keeping their blades sharp.
