WT Members Focus Group

New member
Hey All,

Got a call from the WT membership department today letting me know I was selected to be part of a 20 person Membership Focus group. They are getting this group of current members together on Sunday before the game to hear feedback on our current membership offerings to assist with planning of the 2014 program.

I know there are a few disgruntled members and non members out there who were not happy with the way the memberships are run at the tigers so wanted to get some feedback from you all to take to the game with me on Sunday.

Some of my existing comments are

1\. The Silver to Gold Membership Debacle and the massive jump in costs.
2\. Poor value for money compared to other clubs
3\. No Caps or Key rings in the member kits this year
4\. Not being able to pick away matches in VIC and QLD for Out Of Towners packages.
5\. Equal Representation from Balmain & Wests Legends in Membership Advertising.
6\. Increasing Costs
7\. Food and Drink Prices at home games (membership cards used for discounts at home games?)
8\. More Fan Days in Campbeltown/Leichardt/Concord.
9\. More Flexible/a la carte Membership packs (GA Leichardt + Gold @ SFS + Silver @ Cambo for example)
10\. Ability to Pick your seat/Bay at Membership renewal (from Available seats/Free seats, existing member seats get freed after membership renewal cutoff)

So here is you chance members & non members alike to give some feedback on 2013 and help shape some better membership packages for 2014 (if they listen  )

5\. I think there should be no representation from Balmain and Wests. We are the Wests Tigers! Hard to do but i'm sure it will eventually happen. Maybe in 20 years when the joint venture thing dies down.

See if you can get an answer as to why it's so hard for us to get heritage jerseys released in time for the game when other clubs seem to have no dramas with it. Not the biggest issue I know but 1 that I'm interested to hear their response on

What phone number did they call you from? I had a missed call from a Sydney number (never happens) today that I fear could have been them?

One of the issues i find hard with being anything other than a general member is if you want to go with mates they can't sit with you.

For that reason i find it more convenient to just buy tickets at the gate.

So if I still want to be a member i can choose the stripes option, but it isnt classified as a seated member so I dont get any priority options to attend Grandfinals or SOO matches.

4\. things from me
1\. That horrible scarf this year is the worst piece of crap ever from anyone
2\. Why isn't their more value in the form of discounts with sponsor partners like in the afl.
3\. Why can't you buy the top level memberships split by grounds, I would buy a platinum or whatever the top one is as I like the other benefits but I don't want a seat at Campbelltown at all and at the other grounds I would prefer to just sit with my mates not with people I don't know
4\. Quality of facilities at Leichhardt including toilets, food -stale hot dogs and cold pies in 2013 aren't up to scratch -either fix it or move and I'm a Leichhardt local but it isn't up to standard

Also IMO opinion the prices are quite fair if even a little low for the membership packages but I guess it depends on the ground and surrounding suburbs but in the city and Leichhardt paying 15 bucks for a ticket seems really cheap

No Key ring, hat like previous years
Also for Out of Towners not having a ticket to use at either CSS or Leichardt but entry to Allianz only is a bit rough It should have option of any of the grounds.

The out of towners membership had tickets that can be used at any of our 3 home grounds. There was a thread a few weeks back confirming this.

More an individual issue than a membership issue…something we all have to consider when opting for reserved seats.

You DO get ticketing privileges with this

I have 2 issues:

Our group has had issues with member only emails not being received and access to member only area being denied due to IT issues. This has happened on 2 occasions before we even hit round 5 and usually lasts around 2 weeks. The annoying part of this has been that we have missed out on 3 opportunities to purchase cheaper tickets to games/trials.

For this Sunday's game they have put us in the Brewongle stand with no reserved seat. This does not compare to our 40 metre line seats we have at LO and 30m line seats at Allianz.

On a positive, I have had much better responses to my emails this year than I have in the past so we can give them a pat on the back for that.

The members kits are terrible. I couldn't care less about crappy lanyards, shoddy backpacks, stickers that fade after two weeks etc etc. I would rather one quality item, maybe a Member's Polo Shirt. Quality VS Quantity

Thanks Everyone for the feedback thus far. Will bring up all of your points on Sunday. I am going to bring up a new type of member pack that I have been thinking about which is a a la carte Membership packs (GA Leichardt + Gold @ SFS + Silver @ Cambo for example).

What is everyone thoughts on this?

Personally I have Gold Ultiamte membership but at the suburban grounds find myself sitting on the hill with mates rather than in my seat on the grandstand.

Would members like a more flexible membership pack where you can choose GA at one ground, silver seats at another and gold at another ground?

I guess a way they could work it is that you buy your membership in packs of 4, 3 packs for each ground. Prices would be set for gold, silver and bronze at each ground.

If you just buy 1 pack of 4, you get a 10% discount off the walk up price.
If you buy 2 packs (8 games), you get a 15% discount.
If you buy all 3 packs (full membership), you get a 20% discount.

That should be fairly easy to work.

Hey mate, thanks for asking for our input for this focus group.

I agree with both your comments -
9\. More Flexible/a la carte Membership packs (GA Leichardt + Gold @ SFS + Silver @ Cambo for example) and
10\. Ability to Pick your seat/Bay at Membership renewal (from Available seats/Free seats, existing member seats get freed after membership renewal cutoff)

Also agree with Alex that members should receive a quality "WT's member edition" polo shirt as part of member package instead of cheap scarves, bags, hats or key rings.

Would also be a good idea for the club to make the focus group an annual or bi-annual event to gauge member interest/satisfaction.

And on a personal note, I think the club need to invest some cash into upgrading the PA system at Leichhardt. Terrible at the moment, no one pays any attention to the announcer as he/she can never be understood.
