He is a very intelligent and fast thinker, I have been listening him on SEN for ages.

Agree with the answers or not, that's a different discussion. Credit where it is due.

WT Fans Take Note, For ages there have been no Leaks out of the Club and all of a sudden the Godfather Peter Peters is sharing stuff...
Via Fulton?

I agree with his assets that you described and said so twice.
I can also see straight through him.

Did you ever watch the mockumentary on the ABC called The Games?
John Clarke played the organising head honcho for Sydney Olympic Games and he was very charismatic, intelligent and quick witted. He was very disarming and able to squirm his way out of every situation that crossed his desk through leveraging relationships and playing to his audience through his personable nature….until one episode where he crossed paths with a Coca Cola executive from the states who flat out told him “I am immune to your charms and your way of operating, as highly skilled as it is, won’t work on me.”

That’s how I feel about Lee.

I think if we add a few select backs and continue the clean out we’re still on track to be competitive in 2025. But that’s a very big IF with the admin bullshit at our club.

Our roster should be competitive today within the mid to lower table teams. Our squad isn’t a last place squad. Coaching is a major issue for us.

It’s a bigger if on who comes in…..

Right now over half our current squad are off contract with us, up to 19 spots.
Half of those will be filled by juniors/rookies.
Api and others are at the last year/option years.
Heck some players have poor result clauses in their contracts if they want out then we know the narrative next season.

Experience quality recruiting is going to be our biggest challenge unless we are united & showing clearly that we are one team with a clear forward vision that isn’t built on undermining/no trust.

If we can’t get experienced players then our best young kids will leave also.

People need to push egos aside, trust each other and work as a team to deliver the outcome.

What happened in that month we beat three teams? Two of them good ones. Not the side starting to play to a gameplan?

This side isn't going to win with our current halves/backs, there's only a few fluky tries in us.

We have zero depth all year in attack and we totally mis read any depth thrown at us = we aren’t training to attack.

We have had a month of good football in 21, 22 & 23 funny enough all around the same time (SOO time) with alot lesser quality on the park.

End of day it’s a results business and the coaching hasn’t delivered.

Round 20 this v last year benchmark doesn’t look great

22 v 23
Position - 14th v 17th (worse)
Played - 19 v 17
Wins - 4 v 3 (worse)
Close games - 7 v 7 (better, less games played)
Avg losing margin - 14.3 v 17.8 (worse)
Scored - 15.4 v 15.8 (better)
Tries - 52 (2.73) v 46 (2.70) worse)
Goals - 41 v 42 (better)
Defense - 25 v 27.3 (worse)

So basically your stats say we're looking worse with a better team.
We cant seem to have any stability in our spine. Started off the season swapping players around.

You can look at the stats all you want, I watch the games.

Until Api and Brooks went down we were improving steadily and our upgraded forward pack were competing week to week. We beat the best team in the comp, but still couldn't score points. Clearly need to upgrade our halves/backs.

If you're judging coaches when a side is without it's (star) hooker and half-back (huge chunk of salary cap) you're a hard marker. No team wins in the NRL without their star players and we don't have much depth below ours.

We had a slow start I'll concede you that but we were 2 mins into a 5 year rebuild - if our admin can't hold their nerve 3 mins it's going to a very long road. But we already knew that.

Changing good coaches (Cleary/Potter/Madge) hasn't worked before and it won't until we have a competitive roster.

A wooden spoon and new leadership is what is needed, we have a bunch of proven footy people in the coaches box.
The loser mentality the players cant shake off has spread to you BAGNF05 when you say we need the spoon.

Woohoo you watch games like who doesn’t.

It takes half a year to bed down key positional players let alone structures. Key things you need to look at re our attacking formations. The fact Nofa had to move Bula against the Dragons into position for his try said alot, lack of depth in attack and the fact we struggle to defend depth attacks says alot.

The cowboys game was a massive blip.
Since then we have been shot.
Api/Brooks wouldn’t have saved us in those games.

Next year we start again on a brand new spine which at this stage will be a questionable one at best.

We have a variety of issues wrong from top to bottom but to think our coaching isn’t an issue is wrong.

Fair enough, Agree to disagree on this one mate. I'm fed up with coaches getting hung here and won't be changing my opinion.

I’m not calling for Benji to be punted. We have to commit to a plan of some sort and realistically he is all we have regarding hope. But our coaching strategies atm isn’t great.

Sheens has had a noticeable difference since Macca was moved on, if Holbrook, Hannay or Hook is available grab them and put Benji infront. I doubt Sheens lasts longer than 18mths anyway.

Our issues are far greater than coaching agree. We just aren’t a united leadership team atm something must give and reality is the distractions caused by egos/stubbornness have to be moved on for us to progress otherwise we will get alot worse.

Loved the way Lee stood there smugly answering those questions strategically positioned with a back drop of Wests Tigers merchandise all boldly emblazoned with Brydens logos, while Pascoe somewhere in the background is salivating about how much all this prime time exposure will boost hat sales.

Major outcomes from this media exercise:
  • Board is pleased and confident in Lee's performance and confirm that he will remain in the role of Chairman for however long he pumps money into the joint as the major sponsor.
  • Justine fulfills the expectations of his role as CEO by smashing the hat sales KPI.
  • The board adjourn and celebrate their latest media triumph with a no expenses spared slap up dinner at Grappa.
Meanwhile the on field performance and team morale is going down the crapper.

Daily Telegraph latest:

Wests Tigers coach-in-waiting Benji Marshall presented his vision to the club’s board on Monday night alongside coach Tim Sheens just hours after the club was engulfed in controversy.

It comes as Wests Tigers boss Lee Hagipantelis reinforced his belief that Marshall was well equipped to ensure the Tigers have long-term success.

On the same day club officials vowed Marshall and head of recruitment Scott Fulton would be able to work togetherdespite the growing angst between the two parties, it was Marshall who fronted the club’s top brass on Monday to outline his vision for the club.

Hagipantelis refused to confirm what Marshall presented to the board but said it was hard to not be excited by his plans for the future.

“Benji’s skill is in identifying strengths and weaknesses in the club especially in our playing roster and addressing those challenges,” Hagipantelis said.

“His football IQ continues to impress and he has exceeded all our expectations in terms of his development as a future head coach.

“He has a vision for the club. I could not have been more impressed with his commitment and his passion and his drive to turn this club around.

“I have absolutely no doubt that we have in our midst our long-term NRL head coach.”

It is understood Marshall‘s address included the strengths and weaknesses of the current squad.

The Tigers are likely to forge ahead with plans to entice Super League based halves Brodie Croft and Aidan Sezer to the club next year. The Tigers halves situation is problematic given Luke Brooks’ decision to join Manly and Adam Doueihi not being available until at best the midway point of next year.

They don't mention that this is a monthly meeting the coaches have with the board and nothing out of the ordinary. (as told by Riccio on 360) That would ruin the perception of it being a "crisis " meeting.
