WT Ownership, The Board & Senior Management - MEGA Thread

That article is from March and regards HBG, not WT.
Yep. Not sure the point here.

We're talking about Dennis Burgess replacing David Gilbert on the WT board in the HBG seat. HBG would decide this. Dave is a far more experienced and knowledgeable person and would be the best person for the club to have there. Compare the profiles here https://holmanbarnesgroup.com.au/about-us/our-directors/

When you look at Dennis's profile, keep in mind that a lot of the organisations he mentions seem to be shell companies. Very little online about any of them and where there is, they look like sole traders.

So, David Gilbert was placed on the board before this coup happened, and now Dennis, one of the instigators of the HBG takeover, has taken that seat on the board after that change in power. I'm a little concerned to say the least, not just from having the best people on our board, but from a bigger picture of if Burgess and Julie are trying to unwind executing the recommendations in the review and sending us backward.

That is only intensified by the fact that we expected an announcement on the interim board by now... what is the hold-up?

Maybe they’re waiting until we can string a few wins together? 😂

Red Letter Day 'Events' cracks me up.... It sounds like it's something,
But I'm almost certain it is (or was) a company that organises low key / dodgy battle of the band comps
and charges young bands to play at them.
A snippet on it here: https://musicfeeds.com.au/features/a-red-letter-day-presents…/

We will always be held back by these drop kicks.
Selling to Benny Elias is starting to feel like a better option.

Barry O’Farrell’s second coming as Wests Tigers chairman is on shaky ground with the board refusing to reappoint him and asking the former NSW premier to reapply for his job if he wants to remain at the helm.

Sources with knowledge of the situation talking under the condition of anonymity due to confidentiality told this masthead that O’Farrell is considering walking away from the club if the majority owner, the Holman Barnes Group (HBG), does not follow through on some of the key recommendations from last year’s Crawford-Barnier report.

O’Farrell was appointed as interim chairman at the end of last year on a six-month term as part of a major overhaul of the club’s board following an external review that led to the ousting of former chairman Lee Hagipantelis and ex-Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe.

O’Farrell was meant to oversee the introduction of four new independent directors to the Wests Tigers board, however, a change of leadership at the Holman Barnes Group is now threatening to descend into a messy split.

When contacted by this masthead, O’Farrell declined to comment.

The four new directors were meant to be appointed by May and join the three representatives (Balmain, Wests Magpies and HBG) on the Wests Tigers board.
However, the ascension of Julie Romero to chairman of the Holman Barnes Group in February has resulted in Geoff Squires (Magpies) and Dave Gilbert (HBG) being replaced by former Tigers director Dennis Burgess and Steve Montgomery respectively. Romero did not respond to calls.

The appointment of four new independent directors has been delayed and O’Farrell is no guarantee to earn a reappointment after being told he would have to apply to an external recruitment company.

O’Farrell is now contemplating his future at the club and could relinquish the role if the Holman Barnes Group does not follow through on its pledge to restructure the Wests Tigers board.

New chief executive Shane Richardson has signed a four-year deal with the Tigers, which commenced in July, despite only being appointed as the interim boss.
O’Farrell and Richardson have been in regular contact with billionaire property developer Harry Triguboff about him taking over from Hagipantelis as the club’s major sponsor from next season as part of a plan to involve the 94-year-old in a community and lifestyle project in south-west Sydney.

On the field, the Tigers are seeking to avoid a third straight wooden spoon when they clash with Parramatta next week.

Marshall has led the Tigers to six wins from 23 games this year, registering a slight improvement on the four wins they managed to rack up in each of the last two years.

The Tigers are in the market for Canberra forward Corey Horsburgh and Sharks prop Royce Hunt as well St George Illawarra utility Jack Bird.

Romero and Burgess are a cancer. Both of them need to be kept as far away from the Wests Tigers as humanly possible. They had their chance and ruined the joint. If HBG don't go through with the recommendations then I hope at some point the N.R.L force them to sell to someone to privatise the joint. It'll never happen though because they're too narcissistic, if they don't follow through maybe time to petition the N.R.L to intervene and force the independant board members be put on if there is a way they can do that.

The football part of the operations should at the very least be “break even “ ( I know the Tigers have lost money previously … mainly when they have had to pay out coaches early ..) Not much incentive for them to move on from it ..and it’s a pretty unique asset for a club to own

I can’t see them giving it up voluntarily…

Yeah after everything that happened at the backed of last year the cockroaches bided their time and are now back. Shows they're pretty committed and will never happen without outside N.R.L intervention.

In good faith & she's not following through
with recommendations from last year, true?
Hopefully they are following through with the recommendations, she made assurances when she was appointed Chair that the recommendations would be implemented in full.

I have contacted her about coming on the pod to provide an update on the implementation of the recommendations.

One part of the article is interesting. Getting Harry T involved in a community project in the SW, maybe a stadium update?

Also says that they are trying to convince Harry to take over the major sponsorship …hope they have a Plan B as well… wonder if that means they are struggling ..

Thank you for being so professional in your dealings with HBG @cochise !

I hope they can provide assurances ‘on the record’ that they will follow through on the review recommendations including the 4 independents on the Board.

The review was done for the betterment of the club and if self interest stands in the way of the club progressing, they will feel the wrath. The longer there is a delay in the Board saying or doing something, the more vitriol that the likes of Buzz & co will continue to throw at the club too.

I am confident that Richo won’t stand for the Board not being restructured so we wait I suppose.
