Our two new props are impact forwards
Sue as well,
It will be interesting to see how Ivan plays them
No real impact backrowers , maybe Marsters off the bench.
I don't think we'll find a better SC fullback than Kev, unless we gamble on a young rookie as well.
Hooker /utility Benji or Jem Marshal . Or possibly Reynolds and someone else to 5/8.

Lolohea, Thompson, Marshall, Kev and Nofo - all play Full back.

How many Full backs do we need?

Just one specialist.

EXActly. For crucial spine positions you want specialist backups. The players mentioned above might be okay to fill a game or two but if Lolohea was to go down in round one, I wouldn't want to see any of those players mentioned at fullback long term.

Have Marshall or Thompson even ever played one game at fullback?

Redcliffe Dolphins had Benji at fullback for what it's worth, although the Broncos preferred option was Nikorima to fullback and Benji in the halves when they needed to replace Boyd.

Thompson has played fullback in England and Marshall in Qld.

Keven N is going great guns for Fiji at fullback as well.

Yeah, st this stage I'm assuming k v will be lining up at fullback in isp and be our first up backup for back 5.

If Lolohea goes down rd1:

Kev to fullback

or

Nofo to fullback, MWZ/Kev onto wing

or

Nofo to fullback, Milne to wing, Marsters to centre

or

Left field and Gamble/Brooks to fullback

Nope

Kevin is the only backup fb we have

Nofo is a great ball runner but is a huge liability in defence, probably our weakest link in the defence we have. TBH honest I wouldn't be disappointed if he didn't make the first grade team

I did mention when the Tedesco drama was at its height, at his age we've probably seen the best of him and his previous knee injuries would start to take their toll on his pace etc. This was on the Chookpen. I believe Woods may have had the same procedure and Cordner is rumoured to be having this as well?

Teddy to miss most of preseason will also undergo stem cell treatment

TEDDY UNDER THE KNIFE

YOU won’t be seeing a lot of the Roosters’ million-dollar fullback James Tedesco at pre-season training. Like his skipper, Boyd Cordner, Tedesco is about to have revolutionary stem cell surgery to repair a knee cartilage injury. Surgeons inject Tedesco with his own fat tissue to accelerate the regeneration of the damage in his knee. Both players are unlikely to play in the trials but are expected to be fully fit for the opening round of the 2018 season.

Sounds promising for a round 1 upset. Both players will be underdone.

Will they be sourcing the fat from Tedesco's head?

I doubt JP would be dropping hints if it were to be a high pofile top liner…probably whatsisname from Thirroul

Whoever it is i doubt he will be a first grade player probably just another borderline journeyman who has played at a few clubs and has always been a depth player. Will be delighted to be proven wrong

2018 Squad List, Player Movements

Tue 5th December, 09:00AM

With the arrival of versatile playmaker Pita Godinet to Wests Tigers, the Club has now confirmed 10 new players for the 2018 season who will be joining from other clubs.

Godinet will join new teammates Josh Reynolds, Benji Marshall, Ben Matulino, Chris McQueen, Robbie Rochow and Corey Thompson at pre-season training this week, with Russell Packer, Mahe Fonua and Taane Milne to arrive at Concord Oval over the next few weeks following their World Cup commitments with New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji respectively.

In total, Wests Tigers have signed more new players to their 2018 team than any other club, with Newcastle next best with nine players following the arrival of halfback Mitchell Pearce.

What's also worth noting is that Wests Tigers have the fewest players off contract at the end of the year, with just eight players not contracted at the club beyond the end of 2018.

Cronulla also have eight players off contract, while the Titans are next with 11.

Take a look below how Wests Tigers squad is shaping up for 2018, as well as some of the key arrivals at other clubs with less than 100 days to go until the new season gets underway!

I've seen a couple of people on here who think we have a worse squad than Newcastle because of the way they've bought over the off-season but, what they're forgetting is that we already had a more talented squad than Newcastle to begin with. People are going to criticise our team for next year but, I see a lot of talent in that squad.

Noff, Lolo, Twal, Taylor, Mats, Packer, McQueen, Reynolds and a bunch of young talented players. Granted a few of these players have been inconsistent at times over the past couple of years but, they are undeniably talented. We have a much better squad than people are giving us credit for.

I think the comments were more along the lines that Newcastle have bought better than us, at least that's what my comment was. I still think it's true particularly with the Knights adding Pearce.
