I've seen a couple of people on here who think we have a worse squad than Newcastle because of the way they've bought over the off-season but, what they're forgetting is that we already had a more talented squad than Newcastle to begin with. People are going to criticise our team for next year but, I see a lot of talent in that squad.
Noff, Lolo, Twal, Taylor, Mats, Packer, McQueen, Reynolds and a bunch of young talented players. Granted a few of these players have been inconsistent at times over the past couple of years but, they are undeniably talented. We have a much better squad than people are giving us credit for.
I think the comments were more along the lines that Newcastle have bought better than us, at least that's what my comment was. I still think it's true particularly with the Knights adding Pearce.
I see your Pearce and I raise you a Reynolds.
Honestly if we made the Reynolds signing the same time as Pearce to Newcastle I reckon tigers fans would be just as excited.
Pearce brings leadership, hard working qualities, enthusiasm, a good kicking game and an ok running game with good game management to the knights.
Reynolds brings leadership, hard working qualities, enthusiasm, niggle factor, and experience in game management, an ok kicking game and a great running game.
You could argue both signings are just important for either side.
Swap Pearce with Reynolds and we would have a well organised team with no X factor and Newcastle would have an X factor team with no structure. Based on the players Newcastle have making up the rest of the spine they needed a calm old head like Pearce. And us well providing LoLo is fullback and an old head in young shoulders in Liddle, Reynolds adds his own touch to the spine without overtaking what Brooks can do in organising and providing the framework and if Brooks fails to step up I’d say we’ll be alright even with back up Benji.
