To be honest here, the more and more I look at it, im finding hard to fit Chris Lawrence into my starting squad:

8\. Packer
9\. Farah
10\. Matulino
11\. Matterson
12\. Garner
13\. Twal

14\. Eisenthuth
15\. MCK
16\. Aloiai
17\. Mikaela

If true and we have signed Musgrove he's be in my starting squad, probably over Aloiai.

MCK has to be on the bench as the utility player backing up as a back or forward.

Are you kidding? You are going to put Aloiai and Eisenhuth in front of Lawrence?

Give yourself an uppercut.

It's funny everyone is asking for bigger, more robust back rowers .. but when we suggest players in the back row we get people saying are you kidding .. no Lawrence .. Lawrence is 188cm tall and only just in full kit 100kgs. I have always like Lawrence in the side, but he just too small to do the job required as a mobile bustling back rower these days. I hope he proves me wrong.

Scored six tries this year. Must be doing something right.

He’s one of our best players, so I’d have him picked first every week if fit.

8\. Packer
9\. Farah
10\. Matulino
11\. Lawrence
12\. Matterson
13\. Twal

14\. Aloiai
15\. Musgrove
16\. Eisenhuth
17\. Mikaele

18\. MCK
19\. ET
20\. Rochow
21\. Oliver Clark
22\. McQueen

All I know is we have the weakest looking front row in the comp bar Parra.
In fact, our whole pack looks mediocre at best.

Name a worse one

I read earlier about rumours that Maguire wants to release ET. So not starting with him isn’t all that unreasonable. How accurate is this? I think ET is one of our best defenders, but I guess we have to do something. Matterson at lock would be awesome!

Let’s try to analyse your assessment. It seems to me that we are not too bad off …. in my opinion we should rate about 3.5/5 so ........ we will see and bit early to burry our front row boys just yet. Also I think our bench front row backups are pretty strong.

4/5 Saints:- Paul Vaughan, Cameron McInnes, James Graham (we can compete)
4/5 Bronks - Matt Lodge, Andrew McCullough, Joseph Ofahengaue (we can compete)
3/5 Raiders - Sia Soliola, Josh Hodgson, Ryan Sutton (better)
3/5 Bulldogs - Dylan Napa, Michael Lichaa, Aiden Tolman (better)
4.5/5 Sharks - Andrew Fifita, Braille Bradley, Aaron Woods (if they don’t loose any one of these three via their salary cap woes then this for mine is one of the top front rows)
4/5 Titans - Jarrod Wallace, Nathan Peats, Ryan James (we can compete)
4/5 Sea Eagles - Addin Fonua-Blake, Api Koroisau, Martin Taupau ( they may loose one of these three via their salary cap woes but we can and have get over this combo)
4.5/5 Storm -Jesse Bromwich, Cameron Smith, Nelson Asofa- (no argument they are tops)
3.5/5 Knights - David Klemmer, Danny Levi, Tim Glasby (as good as)
3.5/5 Cowboys - Matt Scott, Jake Granville, Jordan McLean (as good)
2.5/5 Parramatta - Daniel Alvaro, Reed Mahoney, Junior Paulo (better)
4/5 Panthers - Reagan Campbell Gillard, Sione Katia, James Tamu (we can compete)
4/5 Souths - George Burgess, Damien Cook, Thomas Burgess (we can compete)
3.5/5 Warriors - Bunty Afoa, Issac Luke, Agnatius Paasi (as good)
4/5 Roosters - JW Hargreaves, Jake Friend, ZaneTetevano (we can compete)

2.5/5 Parramatta - Daniel Alvaro, Reed Mahoney, Junior Paulo (better)

4/5 Souths - George Burgess, Damien Cook, Thomas Burgess (we can compete)
3.5/5 Warriors - Bunty Afoa, Issac Luke, Agnatius Paasi (as good)
4/5 Roosters - JW Hargreaves, Jake Friend, ZaneTetevano (we can compete)

I admire the effort of your assessment. It’s hard thought to assess effectiveness in isolation. Sure - we can compete against most as you suggest but you must add to this our effectiveness when the rotations begin. Also, how effective do our backrow, centres, even halves play off the platform set by the middle players?

Equal to Jordan McLean , Jake Granville and Matt Scott with Taumalolo as their 13

That's the worst assessment of the season so far , anyone want to try and top it ??

Absolutely … agree with your comment .... but a throwaway line like “our front row is weak, and second worst in the comp” just gets to me. They and the whole pack turned up last year and showed just the opposite ..... so what has changed? At very least we have a settled pack with additional year of experience.
And just on Cowboys Happy ..... didn’t they come in near last ... so don’t start me on rating their great superiority there.

Tiger said the whole pack ..your assessment needs to compare packs as a whole..

I don’t care how we look at it, we have a weak pack . It’s up to them to prove they’re not,
A nice start would be for someone to tell Packer, Eiso, and Matulino that the Competition doesn’t finish around round 6 or 7.

I think these comparisons must have been made on our front rowers best days.

Problem is that this is only the starting 3, and our starting props play 35 minutes a game

If your going to discuss props and line ups you have to bring the 13 into the equation as well

Momo …...Scott was coming back from an ACL and reinjured it , will be the one of the 1st props picked for Qld if fit ......McLean missed 11 weeks from memory injured and will play SOO at some stage and Taumololo is the best 13 in the game

And people think our 8,10 and 13 can compete with that week in week out

:roll :roll :roll :roll :roll :roll :roll :roll :roll :roll :roll :roll :roll :roll

Love this list out. As others have posted we need to include the reserve bench but it is interesting.
Say we put out front:
Packer, Robbie, Twal.

Here are the teams where were better:
3/5 Raiders - Sia Soliola, Josh Hodgson, Ryan Sutton (better)
3/5 Bulldogs - Dylan Napa, Michael Lichaa, Aiden Tolman (better) – Only agreed because Lichaa is in poor form.
2.5/5 Parramatta - Daniel Alvaro, Reed Mahoney, Junior Paulo (better)

Where we are even:
3.5/5 Cowboys - Matt Scott, Jake Granville, Jordan McLean (as good) -- disagree if Cowboys get their act together and they have a stack of forwards waiting behind these people. Off last years performance we are better. Add McClulloullghl
3.5/5 Warriors - Bunty Afoa, Issac Luke, Agnatius Paasi (as good)
3.5/5 Knights - David Klemmer, Danny Levi, Tim Glasby (as good as) -- disagree. Klemmer totally ups their front row and with Guerra and others on their bench they will be a force upfront.

Where they are better but we can compete:
4/5 Saints:- Paul Vaughan, Cameron McInnes, James Graham (we can compete)-- yea but barely.
4/5 Bronks - Matt Lodge, Andrew McCullough, Joseph Ofahengaue (we can compete) -- I believe Broncos have lost McClullough to Cowboys. We probably are even here.
4/5 Titans - Jarrod Wallace, Nathan Peats, Ryan James (we can compete)-- we can till they get a real coach. that is a superstar pack.
4/5 Sea Eagles - Addin Fonua-Blake, Api Koroisau, Martin Taupau ( they may loose one of these three via their salary cap woes but we can and have get over this combo) --- Owch add a trebovich in the second row and were in trouble. should be a tough one unless they loose a star.
4/5 Roosters - JW Hargreaves, Jake Friend, ZaneTetevano (we can compete) -- adding a year onto Friend and I think we will have a good chance against them.
4/5 Panthers - Reagan Campbell Gillard, Sione Katia, James Tamou (we can compete) -- yea but barely and really we will get ourselves served.
4/5 Souths - George Burgess, Damien Cook, Thomas Burgess (we can compete)-- nah, we will get served with the pack we have.

Where we will be owned:
4.5/5 Storm -Jesse Bromwich, Cameron Smith, Nelson Asofa- (no argument they are tops) -- They are, but it's the whole team grind. We often win against the Storm and I think our style disturbs them.
4.5/5 Sharks - Andrew Fifita, Braille Bradley, Aaron Woods (if they don’t loose any one of these three via their salary cap woes then this for mine is one of the top front rows) -- 100% agreed. Once you add a bench of Gallen and half the forwards they have in reserve it's an insane pack.

Personally I see the Sea Eagles (without changes), Panthers, Souths and Sharks owning us up front.
Melbourne will play their grind, But we normally perform well against Melbourne.

Tiger said the whole pack ..your assessment needs to compare packs as a whole..

Nope first sentence, he said "Front Row" which …. yes is bit strange as you would need to compare whole pack + best bench and would then of course have completely different assessment..

Good follow up.
I tend to think that our forwards (if you include Musgrove in the equation) is around middle of the road but definitely competitive. Anyway good topic for discussion.
