WT's Positional Strengths and Weaknesses

There has been much discussion on our clubs positional strengths with some glaring weaknesses being exposed.

Front Row – One of our main strengths with Farah a mainstay, Galloway strong when available, and a host of up and comers in Woods, Fifita, Begovich, Groat, a possibility of Davidson, not to leave out Gibbs. Overall pretty strong for a position that has always been considered a WT's weakness.

Backrow -- We have a host of good players here led by Gareth Ellis, Dwyer, possibly Blair, Heighington has made the lock spot his own so overall once again a position of strength.

Half -- This is interesting with Lui the incumbant, will he stay or bugger off to the Broncos in the future, will Miller make the grade or will Moltzen return to the spot where he plays best ?. Once again a position of strength.

5/8 -- Marshall, say no more

Centres -- Lawrence one of the best centres in the game, Ayshford a solid club player without being a game breaker. Has just signed a new 4 year contract but maybe a position where we need a little more strikepower.

Wing -- Lote has made one spot his own but the other is one of the big queries for the team. Maybe our new Fijian Koroibate may make the grade next year. He has the pace and the toughness to make it and is my tip to be another Lote ! After him we struggle to field a player of player of pace and power. Ryan is solid but is not the future. Definately a position we need to strengthen.

Fullback -- Everyone has there own idea here. I like Brown but I agree he is not a great support player ala Hodgo and is not someone to split a side open with a great run up the middle. Once again a solid club player in a position vital and one I think is our weakness. Love to see the club plan ahead a little. A player like Tedesco might be the man in a few years but we need someone for the short term, not sure what we are going to do here.

So overall the club is in a pretty good position player strength wise, just needs a slight fiddleing in two positions and we will be a main contender for quite a few years to come !

Our strengths lies with Robbie Farah & Benji Marshall…
and we have a strong attacking side of the field when Lawrence & Lote are playing.

Farah has some pretty significant issues in his game at the moment and is a worry. He has the ability to be up there with Cameron Smith as the best hooker in the game but at the moment he is nowhere near the standard where we need him to be at.

We desperately need the fullback and halfback positions sorted out and players playing there that can win us games.

Our forwards need to become more consistent.

Overall we have a really good side but 3 out of 4 critical positions (1,6,7 & 9) we have major issues with.

Sheens will have a hard time getting the most out of this squad but if he can we are a really good team.

Strengths :I think we are pretty solid across the park . Our weakness is we don't come mentally tough weeek in week out like the top contenders and we don't win the games we should walk away with in a canter .

That in a nutshell is exactly our problem and has been for years.

We have the cattle but week in week out attitude and desire seem lacking.

IMO, Ayshford is strong with the ball in hand but I wouldn't like to play outside of him. His hands are covered in super glue.
