Has anybody ever seen a better group of young talent?? I genuinely think this is the most exciting bunch of youngsters I have ever seen, at any club, EVER!!

I'm probably going to get shot down for this but I think Sheensy should get some credit for this one, with the systems he implemented and his youth retention policy…. And almost ALL local juniors

I cannot contain my excitement, if we can keep these kids together, we will win a comp in the next 3 years!

I am very excited as well. We also have signed and kept our good experienced players with Richards, Galloway, farah, halatau. Team is starting to build around a bunch of good players not just ONE amazing player.

But when sheens coached he killed off a lot of young guns coming through. Sure he did a lot and was a good coach and should be praised but was dropped

A flag in the next3 years is probably expecting a bit much IMO. Agree that it is fantastic to have some awesome young blokes to build a team around in the next couple of years. We need to find a good 5/8 though, unless Moses can handle the big time when given his chance.

Austin will be perfect to hold the fort until Moses is ready. Even Anasta played much better with brooks inside/outside him.

I think I read or heard over the weekend that Joey did eveything to get Brooks to the Knights, but Sheens went and saw his family face to face to keep him sewn up. I think Sheens does need some accolades here.

Like who? Can't think of many, if any, that Sheens ruined their careers. He was pretty good at giving them a taste to see if they were up to it. And thanks, I had forgotten that Austin will be with us next season, hope he fills the void.

yup im not sure who the credit lies with..sheens, warren, the past ceo's- but thanks to them we have a good supply of juniors.

the fact that we have a base from campbo to balmain and keebra is very great.

if the board sorts itself out, we could be a powerful force for a decade

He nearly killed off Tim Simona, had him dregging in NSW cup for ages
Also very excited to see how austin goes.

I also think Moses could be ready late next year if he gets over the extremely obvious leg injury he is carrying every week - he is running with a limp and a tonne of steele in one of his legs

The lump under that tonne of steel is horrendous too!!
I know he wants to be out there but at what point will Payten and management decide to uphold the clubs responsibility for his player welfare?!!!

Fair few half decent halves came through which didn't get a go. People like Miller(who yes ended up being below par should've got a decent go). Also brang them into first grade and tried to hide them on the wing, fullback or centres. Just an opinion.
Also simona is another one. Always showed more promise than ayshford atleast, and was kept in lower grades.

Kinda reminds me of 2004-05\. We had the likes of Marshal, Farah, Fulton, Gibbs, Harrison, Halatau etc all coming through at the same time.

HOWEVER this time around, I feel we have a better mix of older guys (No disrespect to Buckets, Hodgo etc).

All makes for a very interesting 5 years ahead.

Getting word Rhys Armstrong has signed with Manly. Big shame but i can see why he would switch with the plethora of talented back rowers/centres in NYC

I see this bunch of youngsters dominating from about 2015 and on. Brooks and Brown were very impressive against the Dragons. The trick will be finding positions for all the youngsters. Sheens has to get some credit for the junior systems he put in place but after seeing Brooks play a traditional style half backs game I just cant understand why he never used a no7 in the same traditional way. Anyway you change history, lets keep our fingers crossed that these kids kick on

We have the best young guns in the comp and we did good signings for next year to cant wait until were a force again. And we will be after big name recruits for 2015 next year.

Sheens is not solely due credit for the junior talent we have coming through at the moment. I think its a combination of reasons already stated above as well as the extremely positive culture in the junior system.

our RL district is very competitive and fun, having played in the balmain area myself, we were a merged comp with all st george junior teams. One year St george got so tired of getting beat, that they decided to combine every talented player from all their different clubs to essentially form a representative team at club level. We caught wind of this over in balmain and did the same thing :laughing:

Then every year the best from our district plays the junior pies (amongst others teams). and then a few years later to then compete against each other for a Cubs position was great. We also had scouts from holy cross watching all the rep games and they would come in at the end of rep season and offer certain players scholarships.

When i turned 17 a huge amount of the team was poached by rugby union/private schools, including myself (a move i regret). but some of the players that were poached were genuine stars and had the potential to play first grade with proper development (union training is sh*t)which is unfortunate for both them and the tigers, because though some of them made the waratahs squad, they never made a debut, and are now stuck playing in the shute shield.

So yeah, a bit of rant, but i thought it was important to give credit to our club districts and development programs.

Which current older guys are you referring to? Only Farah in the current squad should even be mentioned in the same breath as Buckets and Hodgo, they are absolute club legends, none of our current older players even come remotely close IMO. (perhaps Fulton)

Those private schools are like vultures, take all the best talent from League and union anywhere they can.

You regret the move cause you didn't like union i gather?

Private schools poach the best of all the public schools produce too - not just sports, but academic and music as well.
