Your team for round 1 2011

At this stage I would leave Payton out yes. We need power players that make meters (yes he is a safe player and makes loads of tackles) so does Hieno, Ellis, Fulton and Gibbs. I think we now need guys that are taking us forward, players that put a little fear into other teams. Gordon Tallis was so good with ball in hand because he made fewer tackles as players didnt want to run near him. Hopefully Fifita and Simon can do that! Add Big Keith and Ellis and we have a good mix.
Lui is strong on his feet and smart - he is also build like a small truck - he can break the line, pop short balls and offload plus it gives us another attacking player to let Benji run his magic and Moltz run the team.
Other locks are not huge:
Glen Stewart - 97kgs.
David Stagg - 95kg
Ashley Harrison - 95kg
Braith Anasta - 96kg.
He is a different player sure but I think he could carve up - plus he could get up and under straight running defenders just like watching the PNG team, he lateral defence is where he lacks and slides off.
My thoughts only

Sorry, but I can't agree with this. Payten is a key of the forward pack, and the Dragons game is proof of this. He is a hard worker and a smart player. Robbie might be the captain of the team, but Payten is the real leader in the club, so he needs to be there. Lui at lock is an interesting one. I think his defense still isn't good enough to play lock, but i think we should find a place for him. Maybe he could slot into 7, with Ayshford at lock and Moltzen in the centres

i agree with matty. i have absolutely no doubt we wouldve beaten saints if we had toddy, and i think its clear that he is the leader of the forward pack. i would have lui at half, with moltzen at fb. mckinnon would come into fb if either lui or moltzen got injured

Why would we have beaten the Saints had Payton played?
I think he is a good player but not a match winner

because we wouldve had one less rookie, and if u remember, sheens was very reluctant to use dwyer, fifita, murdoch masila etc therefore if payten was there, he couldve given some of the experienced forwards more of a rest and they wouldnt have been so fatigued at the end

Payton is a loyal servant of the club and deserves his spot for at least one more season.

We need to treat our club greats with respect and I agree that he would have made a great difference aganst the Drags

Does anyone know what the latest is with Tuiaki?

Check the official Tigers website for their injury update video. Tuiaki had more cleanup surgery at the end of the season and is supposed to start running again in a week or so. Hopefully he will be right to ramp his training up further in January.

Heighno had cleanup surgery on his ankle while Payten had his knee done.

A thought -

6\. Moltzen
7\. Lui

14\. Marshall

sounds like it could work, would be an awsome super sub!

😱pen_mouth:

no

haha just a G up
Marshalls pretty much sure to get Golden Boot this year no way would he ever be on a bench!!.
Just thought it might make both Lui and Moltz fans happy to realise it's gona have to be either one or the other :sunglasses:

how about lui as the super sub? In the same vein as Craig Wing

Lui for me is either a 6 or 7 i don't know how he'd go filling in any other positions, for me Moltz is in the mould of C.Wing and probably could fill anywhere from 1-7 and maybe even hooker..
