It will likely be Meaney - Pezet - Hughes - Garlick spine for the StormI am wary of throwing any kids to the wolves against the storm, unless they are gutted by origin
Point 1 might be happening 🙂I would say we'll get a good idea of Sheens/Benji's thinking for team selection next week with our NSW Cup team on Sunday:
- if Da Silva is likely to debut, you would think he will be given a run in NSW Cup.
- if he plays JF & Rua plays Cup, maybe next week could be Rua's opportunity.
- if Laurie is seen as a potential half replacement, watch for him playing 5/8 on Sunday instead of fullback.
- if Laurie plays fullback, then I would say Will Smith comes in.
dont know about twal for 80 but bateman back to his edge then into lock at end of each half is the go for us i think.Assuming Brooks won't be there:
1. Bula
2. Nofo
3. To'a
4. Naden
5. Tupou
6. Laurie
7. Wakeham
13. Twal
12. Bateman
11. Papali'i
10. Klemmer
9. Simpkin
8. Utoikamanu
14. Da Silva
15. Pole
16. James
17. Kepaoa
Twal to play lock for 80 minutes. Keep the middle defensively tight and do the big useless metres. Pole hasn't the motor for lock for big minutes. Would prefer him off the bench as an impact forward.
Seyfarth isn't the answer, Sheens will probably pick him but I'd give James a go and see how he tracks.
If Talau is picked over Naden, Sheens need to be committed ASAP. That was an absolute dogshit display last night and we would have been better off playing with 12 than having Talau there. Let him go to Manly, yesterday preferably.
the sentence saying outside of Wakeham next saturday is frightening.for the TigersThe possibles & probables for Wests Tigers 6 & 7 v Storm.
Wakeham - Highly likely as #1 playmaker due to his kicking game & form prior to Titans.
Laurie - Probable 5/8 given he was 18th man v Titans, has trained in halves, though has no long kicking game & unlikely future at the club.
Smith - Possibly 5/8 with his experience, can be a secondary long kicker & backup goal kicker, can also cover hooker if required. Given we'll see this game as a good winning chance, he is less of a risk.
T'oa - I don't think they will move him from centre, no long kicking game. However he becomes a damaging ball running option & simply is replaced by Naden in centres. Less of a defensive liability than the 3 above.
Camroux - unlikely but if he brains it in Cup on Sunday, could be a roughie. Brings another long kicker & backup goal kicker, has speed. Questionable defence. But could he be a Pole type that shines more in NRL than Cup?
I think the answer will come down to who has impressed Sheens/Benji the most in training all season displaying the skills required of a half (passing, short kicking, voice).
I seriously could see any of those partner Wakeham next Saturday.
Do you feel you're being realistic when you state "keep the top 8 dream alive"?I think we'll go with:
1 Bula
6 Smith
7 Wakeham
9 Simpkin
Reasoning, the coaches will want to keep the top 8 dream alive for the squad so will go with experience plus we had 2 big wins to start the NSW Cup this season and our 1, 6 & 7 were Bula, Smith & Wakeham.
Personally I'd love to see T'oa selected there. If the coaches believe he has the passing game, short kicking variation & voice for the position, he could become an x-factor for us for the future in the halves, someone we had never considered!
Sadly, I concur. Last year’s GC game gave us a preview of horror to come. This years round 1 showed how far the team still had to go… last loss ended our seasonDo you feel you're being realistic when you state "keep the top 8 dream alive"?
I cannot see us winning another game this year.
