Your Team to face Canberra

Im somewhat baffled as to why we have moved both Ayshford and Utai… The constant shuffling of positions in this backline is frustrating and unsettling for the players. I'm not too worried about our attack. It will click and we are only 1-2 games away of putting 30 points on any team in the comp. Defensive Structure is my main concern and we just need to settle on combinations and stick with it. I'm hearing Ayshford is looking forward to going to Canberra, so I'd say he will play. Gibbs must start as Fifita isnt ready for a starting workload and is way more effective coming off the bench.

1\. McKinnon
2\. Utai
3\. Moltzen
4\. Ayshford
5\. Brown or Ryan
6\. Marshall
7\. Lui
8\. Gibbs
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Dwyer
12\. Ellis
13\. Heighington
14\. Ryan or Brown
15\. Fifita
16\. Woods
17\. Fulton

I reckon the Boys will be up for this one... Lets all pray for a good week on the training paddock and everything goes to plan.

we are really missing lote and lawrence out wide. im not really impressed with how ayshford, brown or ryan played against the broncos. last year ayshford inconsistancy was almost acceptable since he hadnt really played many games in 1st grade but i expect more from him this year. he was almost dropped last year from playing some bad games and also because daniela and was on the rise - so he started playing good again. ayshford had a really bad game against the broncs. sometimes going for the intercepts is just too risky. beau knows how to make stupid mistakes and brown is just average. there's no reason why fulton wouldnt go well in the centres. he has good defense, he is quick enough, he can draw a defender and pass, and he knows how to run onto the ball and into a gap, and he is definately big enough. moltzen the other centre because lui and marshall need to stay in the halves and moltz just aint a fullback - sorry. i can see what sheens was trying to do but it just isnt working overall. he is too good to have on the interchange i think so see how he goes in the centres against canberra.

You blokes are kidding!!!

Have you not watched the last couple of games?

Big changes need to be made a quickly. If McKinnon not available then another fullback needs to be picked. Hello Mellaney.

No speed on the wings. Ryan was disgracefull last night. Dropped.

Utai, slow, but plaing with great attitude. On the bench to cover the forwards. Would be a handfull.

Moltzen ( I would prefer Miller ), Lui, Marshall (centre) with Davis or Matt Ryan.

Two of the fastest wingers in the club, straight to the wings.

Farah, playing injured. Get the operation done Robbie. Specialist hooker from one of the lower teams.

Mullaney to fullback if McKinnon out.

What has happened to Ellis? He is only a shadow of the player he was last year. Injury? If so get right before being picked again.

Asyshford seems to me to be a natural lock forward. Give him a go.

Drastic times call for drastic action.

No extension for Sheens until we see how the rest of the year goes.

Fire away.

Yeah thats just what we need, more changes.

We need to aim up in defence. If we had done this on Friday we would have won. Now is not the time to panic. We have a game plan and hti has been unstettled enough by the injuires we don't need more. Lui, Ryan and Sauce will be better for the run and with Payten coming back after the bye which will give the whole squad a good break to heal we will be good. Not great but good and it willonly then be a few weeks until Lote is back and as long as we are there and there abouts we will be ok.

We could if results go our way still in 8th after this weekend and at worst 9th.

Maybe not, however when will be the time for changes? When the season is gone?

Some of the tackling (or lack of it) was embarrassing to say the least. We "gifted" them 3 or 4 tries.

Moltzen:- failing to even attempt to catch the bomb that led to the yow yee try.

Ryan:- Dropped the ball cold for the easiest of Broncos tries.

Moltzen and Marshall being shrugged off on the fifth tackle for Thaiday to score.

Marshall:- From a scrum 10 meters out running straight past Lockyer ( who had the ball ) to take the outside man, letting said Lockyer to score another easy try.

When do some of these players get to pay for their bad form?

They pay for the bad form when we have better players fit and available - at the moment we have too many players out injured or playing with injuries and nothing we can do about it

I think Ellis and Aysford will both be out this week but hoping that McKinnon is back - so my team below

McKinnon
Ryan
Brown
Moltzen
Utai
Marshall
Lui
Heighno
Dwyer
Fulton
Gibbs
Farah
Galloway

Woods
Fifita
Flannagan
Matt Ryan

We have too many injuries - in a salary cap restricted competition with this many injuries then you will loose games - whatever people winge about that is the reality.

If you took of any side Lawrence, Tuqiri, Mckinnon, Payten and with Fulton, Ryan, Lui, Galloway all playing their first game back- Ellis and Farah - who have both been playing injured all season and Marshall having a week where he faced court and playing against the team leading the comp then we should really have been flogged - it is a great sign we got so close against the broncos

I think they will give McKinnon Ayshford & Ellis the week off .especially with the bye the week after so i would go with this side
1.Meaney (at least puts his body on the line & Knows the position better than Moltzen)
2.Ryan
3.Moltzen ( he knows how to sniff out a gap out wide so i think centre is the go for the moment)
4.Brown (if Ayshford plays i would put Brown to fullback)
5.Utai
6.Marshall
7.Lui
8.Fifita
9.Farah
10.Galloway
11.Fulton
12.Gibbs (with Ellis possibly out i think we need Gibbs's D around the ruck for the first part of the game)
13.Heighnington

14.Dwyer
15.Woods
16.Moors (I thought he was due back? hopefully he is)
17.Mulleney (he can be the bench warmer for 70minutes of the game)

I hope McKinnon is back and they p[lay Brown as the left centre.

So much of our attack is based around the size and speed of Lawrence on that edge, Brown is the closest to emulating this

Rest all the players that have injuries regardless of who they are..Farah of to the surgeon for a 6 week lay off… Go down to Canberra with a young side and hopefully grab a win... then 3 weeks time after the bye back into it with a refreshed outfit barring Farah and then things will turn around ..playing with injury has no benefit Imo.

Spot on.

Some people on this forum do not get it. If you play an injured player when you have fit players available (even though of lesser quality) you will get the results that we have had in the past 2 weeks.

I totally agree. And please, don't give me this, "Farah at 50% is better than …." rubbish. Farah at 50% is Farah at 50%. It helps no-one!!! Get them 100% fit and we'll be able to catch up after the bye, keep playing them at below par, and we'll be running 9th or 10th again, come September.

For the record both Ayshford and Ellis are in doubt with ankle injuries. Apparently Ayshford has a grade 1 sprain and will need a fitness test late in the week while Ellis aggravated his ankle injury.

Well if Farah is getting surgery it should be this week If he doesn't get it done this week he has to play the rest of the season out imo

wasnt it ayshford and marshall? i think poor moltz tryed to tackle him on the try line after thaiday broke through but it was much too late by that stage

It was all three that got shrugged off!!

Moltz had a chance after he brushed Benji & Aysh but was too late!

The issue with that tackle was both that they were all shrugged off but more importantly where was the forward who should be marking Thaiday - I think it was Ellis on that side - Benji should never have to tackle Thaiday on the line

Benji tried to wrap up the ball rather than stop the man - it was a wholehearted effort from him - but bad technique nonetheless!

And you are right about Ellis - he left Aysh & Benji posted a few times!!!

His ankle & groin are clearly impacting on his lateral movement in defence!!

Dwyer has zero aptitude when it come to lateral defence mate!!!

He defends off planted feet & Thompson/Croker would run rings around him!!

At centre he would be a huge liability!!!
