Chris has been poor for 3 seasons but he'll be selected tomorrow
Sheens NEVER dropped Lawrence
Potter NEVER dropped Lawrence
And for some bizarre reason
Taylor will not drop him either.

Unfortunately he's contracted top 25, so dropping him and promoting someone else will probably have an effect on our salary cap, which we need to be careful of since we exhausted our playing roster over the past two seasons.

Hoeter has already played this year so a swap with Lawrence shouldn't hurt the salary cap.

My changes

Ava to start and Galloway to bench
Lodge to replace Buchanan
Hoeter to replace Lawrence.

Would keep the team in tact as much as possible.

Moses - But needs to be told to run the ball - 5/8s need to run the ball and he offers not much without running occasionally. I don't mean Austins never pass but run occasionally and call for the ball
Brooks - Has been good in attack and his defence has improved but a young halfback will always get knocked over. I mean look at Sandow and Maloney who are missing lots more then Brooks
Woods
Farah
Seumanfagai - Just because our props need breaking up a little I think keith has been great
Sironen - Has had a great season yest was a little down but was cut out a lot as they went out the back
Lovett/ Halatau - Toss of the coin and the other back to reserve grade
Taupau

Sue
Galloway- To be on the field whenever Woods is off but should get 50 minutes all up
Lodge - Back for Buchannan
Sitaleki Akoula - Impressed in NSW cup and in FG last year, provides great utility value and as much as I like Halatau - Robbie should play 80

I would be ok though with the same team but with Lodge in for Buchannan. We really need to find a right edge backrower for next year

Mosses doesn't run for the same reason he didn't workout as a full back. He is too small.

Needs to put on size.

Look at Morgan for the cowboys.

Taylor should pick his best available 17 players just like Jack Gibson did and then assign them a position. Based on that and the fact that I have seen every NSW Cup & NRL game this year I would be confident of getting a win against the dogs with the following team:
Teddy
Hoeter
Naiqama
Simona
Richards
Moses
Brooks
Tapau
Lawrence (his time has come, similar to Lovett but marginally better impact runs)
Sironen
Ava
Farah
Woods
Int:
Lodge
Sue
Halatau
Akauola
When Nofauluma is fit again after the bye he would naturally take Hoeter's spot on the wing. When Galloway returns Ava (not kicking on this year) has to go with interchange props being Lodge & Sue. Akauola will cover Tapau and based on current form will be able to give 30 minutes of quality 15 before h/t 15 after - he cannot maintain impact & quality any longer, which means Tapau must be able to play 2x25 minute stints. If team is struggling in the halves Sirro can cover with Halatau taking his place. Based on form across 3 grades the only other players worthy of consideration are Lovett; Santi; Fine.
I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THE LAWRENCE MOVE TO SECOND ROW IS SCHEDULED TO COINCIDE WITH NOFFA'S RETURN TO THE SIDE IN APPROX 3 WEEKS - BUT IT SHOULD HAPPEN NOW!

Thats interesting & I do agree with moving Rowdy to the 2nd row (probably from the bench). But how do you know this? I still think Akoula, Lamar or Funaki should be ahead of Rowdy for a 2nd row spot though.

How do you think that this team may go? (Need some money and lots of it though.)

Teddy/Moses
Kevin N
Israel Falau
Nofo/Teddy
Simona/Nofo
Te Maire Martin
Brooks
Marty T
Sonny Bill
Docker/Lowe
Woods
Farah/Cherrington
Lodge/Big Red

Akaloa
Big Red/Lodge
Santi
Halatau
Lawrence (forwards only)

One to watch is Mathew Woods from the U 20's. A very, very good player and a great goal kicker.

Oops, I have just woken up.

Lawrence defensibly has been strong all year and made plenty of dirty yards. Okay he will never smoke his opposite number or make a 50 meter dash but he is going better than most people like to think.

Like many others I would love a lethal strike weapon in the three quarters but their is not one on the market and we do not have one in the lower grades at present. So till we do I would stick with the Lawrence.

The forwards are where we have the real issued and especially the backrow, Lovett is a reserve grader at this stage of his career and Siro is probably only bench standard at present and the bench is soft and ineffectual.

Interesting.

Paul Fletcher let it slip at a recovery session last week - that's why Noffa was playing centres in NSW Cup but they were far from happy with his defensive reads which is why Fresh Prince who has played plenty of centre will get the nod. To his credit Lawrence has accepted his fate and is apparently quite keen - but for some reason there is a reluctance to make it happen without Noffa in the side. Fletcher was also very critical of his 'young guns' Liolave; Funaki.

Thanks for clarifying. Might add more depth to the backrow.

Either way, can't wait till Nofo is back.

Re NSW Cup coach player rankings - Fletcher actually rates Asipeli Fine #1 and daylight second.
Magiecol is spot on re Matthew Woods under 20s captain - early days, definitely not ready for NRL, but could be our next Simon Dwyer. Likely debut 2016 along with Marion Seve. Quality throughout the 3 grades is average at best, several not living up to early potential. Cherrington will play hooker along with Dene during origin, club still trying to offload Luani; Lulia; Rowe - no takers at any price. Unfortunately this would be the case for at least another 6 players inc Moltzen who has been poor in NSW Cup both at 5/8 and centre.
