Your top 17, Season 2016

Farah averages about 17 games a year, and I don't think Cherro is up to 80 minutes, so I'm sure Ballin will get used.

Honestly, while I want to see plenty of Cherrington, it will probably be good for his development to sometimes pull 80 in NSW Cup rather than 30 in first grade

definitely a good purchase. but im thinking more about the first 10 rounds assuming farahs healthy.

cherrington in reserve grade with ballin off the bench? seems to be a waste of a spot since farah can still play 80min i reckon. but a 50/30 split could work very well with the new rules/interchanges you never know. however, if the new rules were to help out a 2 hooker system it would be with farah and cherrington as they complement each other a lot more than ballin/farah.

personally, unlike most of the forum i rate lovett. think he has a strong workrate for a young player.

I'm not sold on Lovett but I don't think he is that bad and he may even become a solid first grade player. I think he has to be played in the backrow though because he doesn't have the pace in the centres.

oh definitely not on the centres. if anyones rating him on how hes performed at centre theyre crazy :crazy

hes a 2nd rower, and i think he can develop into a very good workhorse for us. kind of like fults but he has a long way to go before he gets there.

We have depth this year for the second row/lock positions and if Lawrence, Sirro, Sue are not performing then we have the Ipswich boys, Lovett, Edwards, Chee Kam and Loivevave.

Dallas Graham and JJ Felise also add some prop depth and pressure this year.

I feel Rankin/Hunt will fight it out for a wing spot and goal kicking duties.

Addo-Carr to develop his tackling technique in State Cup until he is ready for a shot at NRL.

Noffo and Simona being injury free this year will provide a lot of attacking options this year.

That looks a pretty good side. We are going to have to score heaps of tries in 2016\. Because we are going to,have one of the lowest goalkicking percentages.

Bracketed players ready replacements for injury/underperformance
1\. Tedesco
2\. Nofoaluma
3\. Simona
4\. Naiquama
5\. Rankin (Addo-Carr/Karwhin)
6\. Moses
7\. Brooks (Littlejon for either half)

11\. Sironen (Aloiai)
12\. Lawrence
13\. Sue

14\. Seumanufagai
15\. Aloiai
16\. Halatau/Chee Kam
17\. Edwards

Can't find room for Cherrington on the bench due to lack of utility value and the fact that he would get limited minutes, but he would be promoted to starter if Farah continues with some of those kicks he put in tonight.

Based on the last 2 trials & 9s:

1\. Teddy
2\. Noffzilla
3\. Kev
4\. Simona
5\. Rankin
6\. Moses
7\. Littlejohn (Brooks taking over rd 2)
8\. Woods
9\. Farah
10\. Grant
11\. Lawrence
12\. Aloiai
13\. Sue

14\. Ava
15\. Griffin
16\. Chee-Kam
17\. Cherrington - has to be in the 17 for impact

Top 17
Tedesco
Nofoaluma
Naquiama
SImona
Rankin
Moses
Brooks
Sue
SIronen
Lawrence
Woods
Farah
Grant

Cherrington
Seumanufagai
Edwards
Chee-Kam / Lovett

However for Round 1
Little John in for Brooks
Lovett to start off the bench not chee-kam as Lovett looked dynamic last night
Aloaia to start in Edwards spot for the bench given Edwards injury

On the wing I think Rankin has it at this stage but JAC has a big future once he improves his defence a little

After last nights performance i would go with this team for round 1 baring Brooks who is suspended:

Tedesco
Nofoaluma
Naquiama
SImona
Rankin
Moses
LittleJohn (in place of Brooks)
Sue
Sirro
Lawrence
Woods
Farah
Grant

Cherrington
Seumanufagai
Aloaia
Chee-Kam

I link Lovett played okay last night but Chee-Kam offers more.
I would love for Griffin to be included but he didnt even get a run last night with Chee-Kam and Cassell ahead of him. It would of been good to give Sue a break and play Griffin for the last 10min.

I reckon JT was resting Griffin for round 1.

All the talk about the 2 QLD cup boys. Just remember that as good as they seemed Ipswich played Manly in a trial last night and with the Ipswich boys having every reason to impress playing against first graders they got blown off the park 58-0.

So when you look at Griffin and Madness from last year don't forget that was reserve grade and it is a big jump even from the best reserve grade to NRL

Disagree to an extent, that ipswich side that won the final last year is no longer existant, how many players from last year are still there?

Yeh…. Hype v reality
Reality usually wins
Maybe the Walker bros unique footy is only suited against average defence and reserve grade

but individually madness can slot straight into 1st grade and could see him coming up with some x factor big hits big contact which we have been missing instead of a standard forwards on the bench . he had good tempo which could help big time

Though don't forget Ipwich have been ravaged by the NRL scouts. Lost Griffin & McConnachie to us, Parcell to Manly, Anderson to the Broncos & Cleeland and another to the Sharks. I would suggest that the NRL picked up the best of the side.

Yeah the Walker brothers should be proud that they've helped give that many players a real shot at making it in the NRL. It's pretty amazing to see that many players get picked up out of a single State Cup team. At the start of last season if I'd thought that would have happened to any team it would have been Townsville who had quite a few on their roster that had been there or thereabouts for years. The Walkers are definitely effective at coaching their particular brand of football and having the players engage with it. While the style may not work at NRL level they must have some solid coaching ability to get the players engaged and working together. I'd love to see them get a shot (although maybe not with us…)
