WARATAHS and former All Black winger Zac Guildford is in talks with several NRL teams about a switch to rugby league.

The 27-year-old speedster’s manager has told clubs he is keen to test himself in rugby league and is serious about a switch.
>
Guildford is a journeyman, having played Super Rugby with the Hurricanes and Crusaders before joining the Waratahs this season. He also played in the Kiwi team that won the Sevens gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, and scored four tries in a Test against Canada at the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
>
A number of NRL clubs are said to be interested in Guildford, but talks are only in the preliminary stages.
>
**It is believed the Tigers and the Storm are among the clubs interested in Guildford’s services.**

Guildford has overcome some demons — in 2011 he admitted to problems with alcohol after several off-field incidents — but appears to have got his life together and is ready for a new challenge in league.

I'm a bit wary of paying for Super Rugby backs with no history in the NRL. I think there must be a significant difference in standards of NRL and super rugby.

For example Taqele Naiyaravoro went from WT NSW Cup to the Waratahs within the season and played a test match at the end of last year. He is currently in the extended Wallaby squad for the upcoming series against England. And this for guy who couldn't make first grade in the NRL.
