If ever there was a lock in-waiting it is Alex Twal….Not only because he's called Alex like myself, but he just oozes class in that position when given the opportunity....I predict big things from him this year.... :sign:

I don’t see Twal as a lock, he is too rigid and runs with a bolt upright stance. He doesn’t appear to have the agility of someone like Garner or Lawrence.

Most locks now are just high work rate props capable of playing big minutes regularly:
- Jake Trbojevic
- Paul Gallen
- Jason Taumalolo
- James Fisher-Harris
- Josh McGuire
- Isaac Liu
- Jack De Belin
- Herman Ese’ese

…etc. a lot more like Alex Twal than Lawrence or Garner who you would never play at prop. We need more metres out of our middle forwards which means we should be looking at someone like Twal for lock.

That's a fair point TT.. I tend to agree

Welcome, Zane.

As our signings are going we got:
Maguire
Matterson
Momirovski
Musgrove

Going by that, our next signing will be… Munster? Mansour? Maloney?

Mbye earlier as well, but just remembered that Farah slotted in inbetween.

And the Myth everyone forgot about

If you run with Twal at lock (which isn't a silly idea) then I think we are one prop short with only Packer, Matulino, Musgrave, Eisenhuth and Mikaele.

Perhaps a Robbie Rochow at lock?

Matterson and Lawrence in the second row?

Taylor is looking a bench player at this point maybe (if you want to run a more sizeable lock).

This season gone. We relied on on Nofo and Fonua to make meters because the pack couldn't. Having Twal at lock would give the pack some go forward.

Twal size is against him as a lock, we need to groom a future front row rotation. Twal and Zane are it for me. Stil think we are a prop short.

I actually like Matterson as a lock, after watching some of his games this hear back the last few weeks it showed he is a 5/8/centre/backrower - he can ball play late and runs decent lines + can defend.

He is certainly not carrying any weight except hard muscle….He is 6' 3" tall or thereabout which is nigh on perfect for me anyway....Think Ron Coote.... :sign:

✔️

We have to run with 4 props.
Matulino, Packer, Twal, Musgrove. I think Mikalele will beat out ET for the 13 jersey.

I could see a centre, lock and winger signed before the season kicks off. McQueen, ET, Rochow seem to be played that will struggle.

😂

Mikael who's never played a game and isn't exactly conaidered a lock is going to beat out ET, our most established player at #13 and has never let us down rly despite the hate, the head knocks and his huge work rate

Yeah it seems extremely unlikely that Maguire would start a rookie at #13\. If Mikaele gets a run it'll be as a bench prop to start with. Taylor, Twal or Eisenhuth will be #13 unless we make another forward signing.

x2

Thomas is ripping in at training..don't know about starting at lock but he'll be there thereabouts in the 17 I would guess..bench to start,,

rated highly by the coaching staff…

Musgrove settling in nicely...we'll have some aggression sorely lacking..

Something positive to look forward too

These 2 may have more of an impact than we could ever of imagined

Ive been saying it for a while. He is wasted on an edge.

I hope we play him in the middle.

ET doesn’t work with our current props. I thought it would but you can’t go past the lack of metres. He’s a good player but doesn’t suit the modern game.

Packer and Matulino are big in other areas not just metreage but the 13 has to be a third prop. I may be way off but age should be no barrier. This kid can go hard and is very mobile.

I’d prefer an experienced recruit with Mikalele off the bench to ease him in but it may not happen. I’d give the kid a crack. He’d struggle to be a downgrade on ET’s last year.

I knew it would happen - finally agree with something you said. Good on ya!
