Zane Musgrove

If we're hoping this guy's gonna make a difference to us finishing 9th again we're in big trouble.
We will go backwards next year.

Given the details that are emerging here this is just another black mark in the how the NRL treats the Wests Tigers differently to their preferred clubs.

Disgrace if found not guilty. Should sue the game for damages

That’s positive ..... I suppose it’s time for you to take 12 month break then?

Not commenting on Coleman, but if you break down the facts presented, Musgrove has been accused of:

1. Kissing the woman
2. Grinding while dancing with her
3. Putting his arm around her and pulling her close

She claims she didn’t consent to any of it...

The video shows she approached him first, continued to dance with him after being kissed and stayed around during this “non-consent”.

Sorry, but “frozen” or not, if a woman kisses you back, she has consented to the kiss. Regret and consent should not be confused.

Seems opportunistic to me...

If that's all it hardly seems worthy of a year out of a job. Happened a thousand times in a thousand pubs last weekend and will again this weekend.

"Consent" seems to be a major issue in first contact situations these days.

Perhaps a thoughtful person should carry a consent form with them on a night out, which they would ask their opposite to sign before they even hold hands.

Of course, a new consent form would be required for each step in the courting process, which would tend to dampen spontaneity, but it would avoid litigation.

@fibrodreaming ... And because consent can be withdrawn throughout the event, a further consent form would have to be signed for each occasion declaring consent was not withdrawn at any stage.

I wonder how the following case will impact on Musgrove's case;

Ex-NRL player guilty of sexual assault
By AAP
2:30pm Oct 16, 2019

A former NRL player has been found guilty of groping a female casino worker while celebrating Queensland winning the 2017 State of Origin decider.athan Sologinkin, 41, denied touching the woman on the vagina on the outside of her clothing in the crowded Treasury Casino in Brisbane on July 13, 2017.However, a Brisbane District Court jury on Wednesday found him guilty of sexual assault.

The father of three played first grade rugby league between 1997 and 2003, with stints at the South Queensland Crushers, Canberra Raiders, Canterbury Bulldogs and Melbourne Storm. He had gone to the Origin decider with his brother-in-law and a cousin before joining hundreds of Maroons fans at the casino celebrations.Footage played to the jury showed him pushing through the crowd and chatting animatedly to fellow Maroon fans as he made his way to the bar.

The Crown presented evidence that as he was walking past the woman in the crowd, in one motion he touched her from vagina to hip, during a 0.31-second window, before walking on. The woman reported the alleged assault to casino staff, who then used CCTV footage and tracked down Sologinkin.

"Women are, of course, entitled to make a living and not expect to be sexually assaulted during the course of that employment," crown prosecutor Stephanie Gallagher said during sentencing submissions. She was also subject to "distressing" cross-examination.

Sologinkin told the court he had three beers at the game and up to seven rum and cokes at the casino as he celebrated until about 1.45am. His defence barrister claimed the woman had not initially considered it assault and apologised to Solongkin for the contact. But the victim later changed details of the allegation to accuse Sologinkin of sliding his hand up her leg to touch her genitals, the court was told.

The court heard Sologinkin's position as president of the Albany Creek Crushers junior league club in Brisbane is now in jeopardy .Defence barrister Craig Eberhardt has called for Sologinkin to avoid a custodial sentence and instead receive a fine and good behaviour bond so he can continue his contributions to junior rugby league. He will be sentenced on Wednesday afternoon.

Seems like a very different scenario. That sounded like blatant unsolicited contact. Musgrove's story seems very different and somewhat cloudier (this is no way casting aspersions on Musgrove or his accuser.)

Whatever happens Musgrove would greatly Improve our pack, him coming aboard would mean huth the plodder would be seen as depth and not actually be in the starting 17, i for one would be fine with him joining the club if he is found not guilty and attends counciling

It will have absolutely no impact on Musgrove's case. A Magistrate isn't going to change their view of the facts and evidence in a case before them because a jury dealing with an entirely different set of facts and evidence in another jurisdiction took a particular view. That's not how it works.

Counseling for what?

If he is found not guilty he has been found to have done nothing wrong.

@The_Patriot he most definitely will need counseling from what has unfolded if found not guilty....imagine being. Young prop ready to make your name in the game and be told no you can’t play for a whole year all for nothing...a lie.....he would be furious and or depressed as that’s 25 games he can’t gain back..so he’s gonna need counseling no matter the outcome it’s just depends if it’ll be for sexual indecency or anger/depression

Sack him!!! I wouldn’t care as what he’s already proven to have done in this instance is bad enough, another Matterson at his next contract window too (possibly). Arrow seems an intelligent and hardworking young man, the only player I’d contemplate as a recruit mgr

Nah, not guilty is not the same as innocent. However, if the judge in his/her reasons finds that there was no case or similar, then that is another story. So unless such is found, I don't want him anywhere near WT.

guy should still be sacked for bringing the game into disrepute.....his actions show what an absolute grub he is....show's he has the moral fortitude of an absolute worm

If he is found not guilty I doubt that he would be seeking counselling. Not everyone in this world is a snowflake. A lot of people actually do handle adversity quite well and grow as a person afterwards. You say you would take him on board if he has counselling which assumes if he doesn't have or need counselling you don't want him here. The argument could be put that if he requires counselling by all means get it but it would then put in to question his ability to perform under pressure.
