From the fox sports article,

Israel Ogden and Etuale Junior Lui Toeava are two of those promising prospects.

The pair’s manager, Dixon McIver, said Maguire has personally told him last week he would like to keep both but a move to Queensland could also be on the cards.

“Madge’s words to me were: ‘We have put a lot of work into those boys and we would like to see that come to fruition’ but it comes down to them being in the right place to do that too,” he told foxsports.com.au.

He said Maguire “cares a lot about grassroots players” but the constant movement of the NRL squad due to the coronavirus pandemic has not helped him “keep his fingers on the pulse”.

Are these kids not already signed. You have got to be kidding. So the old pathways talk is just that - Talk.

You can't force them to sign

They would be looking at their options like all other players do

It doesn't mean we haven't been trying to sign them or that they are not prepared to sign

Just seeing what else is out there as anyone else would too

Surely the cream of our junior teams are signed by now or are we a pathways for other clubs.

I don't think he said that they haven't been signed? He said he is in QLD and is not up to date with the juniors (not really his domain) as he has other worries on his plate, i'm sure?

Only four weeks back Ogden informed fans on Instagram that he hadn't had talks with the club yet.

Yeah, I'd think the club should have other people handling that and then consulting him.

Can't keep them all.

Both players couldn't stay on the field this year

‘Can’t keep them all’

Yes but are we going to keep any? Not much good having a gun Flegg side if they all play NRL elsewhere

if you read the whole article, I think their manager is just trying to do what's best for their development by potentially looking to shift them to Queensland. any manager with good young talent would be looking up there if they cared about the long-term development of the players in their stable.

from what I have seen though, Ogden loves the club for giving him a second chance that he didn't receive at the Warriors. I think that will be enough to keep him here. whether that's a top 30 or a development contract remains to be seen. don't know too much about Lui to make a comment.

Would like to see them signed and stop being a pathway to other clubs

Point is that we don't know what is going on behind closed doors

The club is probably trying to sign as many of our great youngsters as they possibly can as soon as they possibly can but until they are announced either here or elsewhere we won't know anything

And I'm sure every club has youngsters they want to keep and the fans want to keep but they are lo looking after themselves and checking the open market as well

So does anyone know if the Brooks been shopped around has any legs?
Where theres smoke there fire they say..
I think its true as Madge most likely wants Hastings at 7 next year and you cannot pay brook the money his on to sit in reserves.

Actually I’d argue that Madge doesn’t want Doeuihi at 5/8 next year. He is a gem of a talent but a half he isn’t. If he was helping Brooks with a relaible kicking game that’s a different story but his individual defence and his organisation of the backline in attack and defence is horrible. Something Hastings will do extremely well next year.
I’ve flipped and flopped over the potential combinations but I just can’t see a Hastings & Doueihi combination being a better option than a Hastings & Brooks combination.

Tend to agree with you about Doeuihi. He needs to sort out his defensive issues. Once he improves on that in he becomes great utility and with bit more lean muscle build up he could become a very good ball playing lock.
As for Brooks I would try him at hooker with Hastings at half. It’s worth a try during early season trials.
Many say we lack speed in the back line and point to centre wing positions but for me our weakness is 5/8. That’s where we need something special.

Absolutely agree with Doeuhi turning into a 13. His body is still developing, but has size, and is improving with his ball making skills and decision making.
Also, he seems to have half a brain! Football intelligence seriously lacking in this team.

I'd be putting Ogden into the top 30 next season and Etuale a development contract.

Not sure his defence is up to playing 13

Doueihi is our long term 6. he has the skillset, just needs to work on his short ball. I think we forget he's played less than 70 first grade games. he's not a 13. he's a 6. the question is who plays inside him at 7, not whether we move him out of the spine.

I think it's time for Brooks to move on, not because he's a bad players I think his position is such a dominate one that we just need to go in another direction to make change. Possibly Hastings, maybe Aiden Seizer in the similar role he had at Canberra with Wighton, a smoke is the French captain Theo Fages who plays in the halves at St Helens both off contract

It's amazing how some of these players look like superstars in their final year of their contract. But they didn't look like a superstar or a potential one if you were to look at the players performances for the past few seasons. This club the WT has been abused by these sort of players for far to long.
