Tigers eye permanent move back to spiritual homes at Leichhardt, Campbelltown

Playing more games out our actual home games would be tremendous. Hopefully it gets done in a few years but I'm not holding my breath

Can't wait for this ridiculously long ANZ/Bankwest deal to be over. Whoever signed that for 10 year is a fool
Grant Mayer says hi..

We are still waiting to find out who had the office next to Mayer .. about the same as waiting for a home ground..

it is annoying at Parramatta you get season tickets and you have to sit and look into the sun, but the corporate boxes are taken care of though that is the important thing.
Not a very good ground
Homebush is big but has plenty of parking and public transport
Even for night games..?

The thing is 2005, 2010, 2011 when we were winning no one cared about the ground, it was packed everywhere
That’s a fair comment. But I’ve gotta say, also one of the reasons we are losing now. Fear of failure can stop the club from changing a winning formula, so too can complacency. We need to keep growing regardless of the scoreboard.

100%.
In saying that it’s clear Pascoe has us very much focused on forward financial and off field planning.

You don’t want to wait until the contract is up to renegotiate which is what has happened years before = no option but renew.

Lets wait and see but I’m really positive about our financial situation and how we are planning for future continued success off the field with Pascoe leading the charge.
Agree MT.

I think Pascoe is focusing on the recent premier's comments around revamping local grounds. If the NSW Premier can help add a few more corporate facilities, maybe the financial model starts to get a bit more viable.

I wonder why the premier, or any Polly for that matter hasn’t pushed hard on upgrading or greenfield building of a WT stadium? Has it been too political, considering dealing with a club without a collective organisational goal regarding that matter?

Fool is harsh,

It has helped with our teams financial security and lets face facts, the majority of fans dont actually go to the game.

Most fans watch it on TV. I went to Wollongong only last season to watch the Tigers.

Here's another fact, unless the tigers start wining soon, there wont be any new Tigers fans to go to games anyway.
never a truer word spoken....apart from die hard parent fans, which kid would want to grow up to play for the tigers if they had a choice?

It seems that we are letting the government of the day decide where to play. They built a stadium at parra so we played there, If there was a 30k stadium at Homebush we'd be there, Liverpool, we'd be there.
It's got to hard for them so they are going back to failed stadium strategy of 2000.

Utter failure.

We will never have one home ground. Everyone needs to realise that.

And if we are to play more games at the suburban grounds they both need a lot of work. Both for corporate facilities and for covering fans from rain.

Campbeltown needs a massive facelift, knock down at least one of the grandstands and put in more modern facilities. Wrap the grandstand alone the northern end of the ground.

Leichhardt also needs a rebuild, knock down the grandstand and put in again a bigger and more modern grandstand and wrap it around the northern end.

Obviously both would need significant Investment from government and councils etc

If we do have an academy built in Campbeltown then a 8-4 split is fine

Tigers eye permanent move back to spiritual homes at Leichhardt, Campbelltown

From the SMH

Wests Tigers have started talks about playing all home games at their spiritual homes at Leichhardt and Campbelltown.

Considered rugby league nomads in recent seasons after using several home venues, including five grounds this year, there is now a push to permanently base themselves in suburbia and establish a clear identity.

This year the Tigers will play at Leichhardt, Campbelltown, CommBank Stadium and Tamworth, as well as a “home” game during Magic Round – which they will be financially compensated for – at Suncorp Stadium.

The Tigers hope a genuine home ground atmosphere will bring on-field success, which would help compensate for any money lost by playing exclusively at Leichhardt and Campbelltown instead of larger new stadiums with bigger and better corporate suites. Leichhardt can accommodate 400 corporate guests compared to CommBank’s capacity of more than 2500.

The club has generated a profit of about $3 million for the past two years, so there is no longer pressure to chase deals at bigger stadiums that carry financial incentives.
The $75 million redevelopment of Concord is due to open in May, while the club’s new academy will be constructed at Campbelltown in conjunction with the University of Western Sydney.

Some Tigers insiders believe playing all their games at their traditional homes will strengthen ties with the community and fan base.

Sources with knowledge of the internal discussions believe more games will be allocated to Campbelltown, possibly an 8-4 split, to capitalise on the booming population in Sydney’s south-west corridor.

Former Tigers coach Ivan Cleary first floated the idea of the club playing at one ground in 2018 in a bid to create a “home ground advantage”.

“If you’re going to be successful long term, one home ground is beneficial,” Cleary said at the time.

The Tigers’ $6 million decade-long agreement to play at Accor Stadium finishes at the end of next year.

CommBank Stadium has been used by the Tigers, but most fans and officials in the game concede the $360 million ground is the home of the Eels.

Playing a game at Tamworth each year remains an option for the Tigers because of the financial and game-day support they receive from the region.

Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe has often spoken about the long-term need for a clear identity for the joint venture, but stopped short of backing the exclusive use of the two traditional grounds.

“It’s clear when you look at all the really successful clubs around the world that they have a true understanding of their identity and a fortress they can call their own for all home games,” Pascoe said.

“Having a similar fortress is something the Wests Tigers are working towards making a reality.

“I won’t speculate on where we play our home games. But I do know there’s always the deep desire from everybody at this club to make sure we always pay homage and respect to our foundation clubs and where they originated from, which is Campbelltown and Leichhardt.”

Meanwhile, the centre of excellence is on track to open on May 4, with the playing surface a chance to be used as early as next month for captain’s runs.

The set-up features an in-house barbershop, a state-of-the-art recovery pool and a cabinet displaying historic Indigenous artefacts found during construction.
We’re working towards it but I won’t speculate? This bloke is a dope.

His strategic planning makes his hair-do look world class.

By my calculations we’re getting about 600K per year to play at the crap stadiums. Lucky we spent that money so wisely on an overweight player addicted to Oporto.

I’m Balmain heritage and I’d be happy with 10:2 split to Campbelltown. Just give it a revamp to modernise it and get on with it.

difference at LO at campbletown is your season ticket members are not looking into the sun all afternoon on day games
may aswell watch from home
All the seats on the hill side at LO are reserved and most I think in the eastern.stand at CSS are too... Silver membership.or whatever

I would love to see L.O and Campbo as our home grounds, both could easily be our jungles...The big stadia are good for financial gains, but, leave little to the "this is our home atmosphere"...if we can keep the revenue coming in without the dependency of the big stadium funds, then we become a far better proposition to attract juniors and seniors from far and wide if we maintain a winning, consistent and stable environment...thats what the platform should be,not the NRL nomadic tribe as we have been...

Club income and club salary cap come out of two completely different budgets

Damned if you do, damned if you don't in this scenario.
What we have done in the past has gotten us to a financially profitable business. Maybe not the best for fans, but would we have a team to follow of it wasn't done? Now we have money it's time to go to phase two and let the fans walk the walk with two tribal homes...ironically, something the fans the fans have been screaming out for. It's ironic if the fans now don't rock up and make these places a fortress.

The sun in your face at Bankwest is the weakest of arguments for not liking it. . The same sun on your face on the Hill at LO is apparently a thing of beauty though.

well Bay 21 and 20 must never be filled because I know plenty of people who rick up and buy tickets at each home game as members of the public.
At least LO and campbletown offer some areas away from the sun in day games UNLIKE Parramatta stadium the corporate seating is all on the tunnel side, also Parramatta is the only stadium where they run out towards all of the ticketed members
A stadium built for corporate boxes not season ticket holders
