Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Did I read wrong or did someone admit they got this kid confused with the two back rowers? If so, we haven’t even been linked to him.
Yeah I got mixed up there pom mention we were out of the race for the to back rowers but mentioned nothing of this guy

I’d say the talk of him is pointless, however we’ve had 5740 pages of pointlessness in this thread.
In saying that we do have 3 youngsters who've joined us from north qld in the pats year alone (Tuki, Dotoi and Hill) so he'd have some help and potentially familiar faces to help him settle if he did decide to head down to the big smoke...

Luke Thompson confirmed our intrest
Okay, so I think Thompson would be a good buy.... Till I read this:
"the Bulldogs would be on board with Thompson, who has around $1.4 million left on his contract".
I am unsure how long Luke has with the club. But if the contract is 700K a year, it's a No from me at that price.

They will still be looking to offload him. Phil Gould will be doing a Penrith and Josh Jackson and Thompson will be on the chopping block (so will a lot of other fringe graders)

His contract was the main reason he didn’t end up here. The Dogs wanted us to pay too much.

Time is running out for them ... time to negotiate a discount is now.
Trouble being we have 30 players already - so who gets the chop?
Or do we throw a hooker their way?

By the end of February the Bulldogs will have already paid 1/3 of his contract for 2022 so the main issue would be negotiating what the Dogs contribute towards his 2023 payment.

Thompson wld be a valuable addition to our forward pack at either 10 or 13..brings size and experience and aggression.Sometimes too much..but after that 38/0 flogging...its something we desperately need
Last time he was discussed him he wanted a 1 to 2 year extension to his $850k contract beyond next year to move, and he simply isnt worth that money to anyone..including the Dogs who are stuck with him atm
If we cld get him for reputed $1.3mill(or better) over remainder of this year and next, hes reasonable value. That costs the Dogs nothing...but only works for Thompson if hes unhappy (not impossible working for Gould)

$$$$$$$ were always the sticking point ….. Gus tried to offload him on the cheap.
