Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Sheens is too wily to allow us to take up the contract. I'd suggest Gould would already know that so it is status quo. I'm not that fussed on him and we have more than enough props.
I hope you’re right Paws, but wasn’t it Sheens and co who left us with a bunch of back ended contracts that left Potter and to a degree Taylor with no money to spend?

Based on what? Things can change quickly, we seem to be getting better at negotiating and not broadcasting our intentions since Hartigan departed club seems to be moving in the rite direction. I'm all for it if we can get a good deal
Based on there’s nothing to suggest there’s even any discussion going on

Im concerned we'd be after a bloke who cant get a start in Cows set up. Asi was primarily a 6 who got moved around the centres and bench a bit early on. Played a couple good games at 6 but was rubbish anywhere else.
I am not sure you have the right player, he is a centre who was only played a couple of games at 5/8 due to his ball skills from his touch footy background, he is still 20 & still developing,he has offers from the cows & gc I would be happy if the Tigers picked him up.

I have no idea if this kid is any good or not but I am worried about ending up with 7 or 8 centres who have potential.....

Need one GOOD one.

News just in:
"North Queensland Cowboys re-sign young gun Heilum Luki until end of 2025"
So we can scratch him off our wish list, for now anyway.
Just confirming what we already suspected mate, we want Nanai!
He's still not locked up yet [well that what I'm hearing]
Let's hope we can nail this guy because all reports are he's a gun!

While he is an old prop himself, just remember Sheens had Danny Galea and bronson Harrison start as props. Signed the great Ryan Ohara as well. Had to drag Skando out of retirement as we were so short.
Really Sheens is becoming some God type figure.

Was it?

I mean was it really? I vaguely remember Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah loaning the Club 100k and 200k respectively. What was up with that??? It was a weird time as Campbelltown people were fighting Balmain people and no one cared about the coach till 1 year into his contract they wondered about his performance.

IMHO it was a poor board and poor management. No surprise that we were left with the Big 4 all signed onto one agent and all renewing their contracts at once.

I blame Sheens for a lack of Defensive culture, though when the team tried it could deliver under him. I blame the board for the horrible contracts and not caring about Football for 10+ years. Our current board is far better.

We will never really know I guess, but I find it hard to believe Sheens didn’t at least have knowledge of what was going on given he had been our coach for so long and his standing in the game. We back ended several guys and also made some horrible recruitment and retention decisions.

I’m not trying to death ride the guy, I’m just not prepared to jump all in with blind faith.

By the looks of the trial Manly have a lot of depth. Tuaimalo Vaega scored 4 (most wingers on the end of that backline probably would have done the same). The young players that came into Manly’s first grade side did very well at NRL level. They can’t keep them all.
After all they took Paseka, Taupau and Aloiai off us.
