LIVE GAME Trial 2 V Roosters..

Live Game Discussion
New starters went okay, particularly Hastings and unlike others thought the spine worked well in getting back control after a shaky start to basically dominate the rest of the half and that when Peachey came on it disrupted our attack.

Musgrove showed that he has plenty to offer and loved what Brooks, Laurie and Liddle (particularly because he injured his knee on the third chooks tackle) were doing, combining and backing up with good meters through the middle.

Rua looks to have something and along with Madden shone against the reserves to finish the match.

The support was there in defence and attack. Great to see.
Did anyone notice the strong defence? 😂

It was actually the most aggressive they have defended in a long time.. some obvious lapse’s

Just a trial and just like attack defence needs time together to build combinations And understanding..forwards especially hit with intent..

Long may it continue..

Tonights game certainly impressed some of the team and club knockers for sure....

Two important things came out tonight.....

1..We could have a very good spine after a few games together...Brooks ran with a lot more confidence with Hastings beside him,Laurie played well and seems to have recovered very well after the leg break last year and Liddle did ok as well...
special mention to Madden, very good tonight and although a very good cup player,he will be great back up if he remains consistent...AD will have to work hard to keep the six.
2.. The teams defense was excellent considering the poor conditions, only a trial, the squad will develop and get stronger as the season progresses...very good result after being under pressure at 8 nil down....

I also realise that the Roosters still have a heap of talent coming back, but the teams performance for this early on was pretty good...

I'd really like to see Hastings doing more kicking. Most of Brooks' kick were average, Hastings is a natural halfback let him kick sometimes.
A couple of Brooks touch kick were awesome. One of Hastings talents is cross field bombs, in order to do this Jackson and Brooksy need to stand either side of ruck to mix it up, also driving rain didn't help anyones kicking game.
Thought Gildart is settling in nicely.

I thought it was a bit frustrating that anything the roosters did, the commentators thought

I honestly can’t remember a tigers defensive unit driving the attack back in tackles so consistently. Yes it was only a trial.

As in his kicks for touch? Im more worried about forcing dropouts and finding the grass with long kicks. Rain certainly doesn't help

Gildart looks like he will need to adjust to the speed of the game defensively but his attack looks strong.

Missed approx mins 40 - 60 - but thought was a solid hit out. Agree Leilua is a loss for next year, but wise we're not dropping 1.5m on him + Papa - think we got it right. In limited minutes, Seyfarth looks better at 2nd row than I thought he would - interesting to see if he stays there or moves back to the middle. Assuming he is in line for a bench spot covering both. IMO only two out Tuilagi, Seyfarth and Garner can make the team though and Garner can cover centres in case of injury. Maybe Peachy could slot in there if someone goes down during a game.

Gildart is looking better than I thought he would which is promising. Missing a top tier prop to partner Stefano and the spine will take a bit of time but plenty to work with. Young Rua looks a find! Needs a year in state cup - but will make next year interesting with him and Simpkin competing for a bench spot you'd think.

Yeh I know what you mean.
I think because it was a trial it was evident that the game plan was to play the sets out. When we were in a position to go for repeat sets we dropped the ball or stuffed up play the ball. The boys need to submit on their knees, no good on your back especially in the wet.
A lot to work on but pleasing to see the D is changing.
We're holding up the player and gang tackling him then driving him backwards slowing play the ball.
Awesome!

Gee did we win a game or something else.
Maybe it's 134 journos wanting to know how to critique the game for their papers so they come to the experts for info. 🌝

I have no doubt that morons like Rothfield, Crawley, Ennis, Anasta, Hooper, Brandy etc all come on here to gather info to write their bull crap. Scumbags the lot of them.
We played good enough to beat a weakened Roosters side in a trial. It’s a step forward…many more to follow.
