Russian invasion of Ukraine

I think the last time they used it to power eastern Ukraine was 2000 or 2001. It can be recommissioned anytime. Some say that the gas and oil companies like it decommissioned to make Europe reliant on their energy.
The reason Putin went for Chernobyl was he wouldn't incur street skirmishes. It's a desolate area. He can pass through without resistance.

Some might say that reactor technology that was so old and out of date that it contributed to a nuclear disaster 40 years ago, is even more out of date today and it might be best to leave them off?

Yesterday BP withdrew as a major shareholder in the Russian State owned Rosneft, costing the Russian govt directly $35B. Today Shell withdrew from Russia, including a 25% stakehold in the largest LNG plant in Russia. The European arm of Russias largest bank Sberbank looks like failing. Many large international companies are getting out of dodge.

What is happening to the Ukrainians is unforgivable, but Putins actions in this war will hit the Russian people hard.

As always the Russian people pay for the crimes of their leaders

Plenty of rest and ice mate...later on physio will benefit you heaps, but take it easy at first....I displaced my rotator cuff on my right shoulder and couldnt lift it above shoulder height for nearly 12 months...6 months of physio and no golf for 4 years and now back to full strength and happy...it all takes time and patients hang in there and take it easy until it fully heals....
I said earlier that being ex military and one who has seen the horrors of war, especially the effect conflict has on innocent civilians, I would not enter this debate because it upsets me.
I'm however compelled to say this:
Poverty in Russia is ongoing and multi-dimensional. Diminishing oil profits, one-dimensional economic conditions and government sanctions play a major role in the poverty problems in Russia. [historically]
A struggling agricultural sector and sanctions on U.S. goods cause serious problems for food security in Russia. The country has a long road ahead in an attempt to reduce poverty within its borders.
If you don't believe Russia have starving people then you have your head in the sand.
Ukraine spent $4.7 billion in 2021, just over a tenth of nuclear-armed Russia's $45.8 billion. [These are figures are apporox - don't quote]
Neither of these countries can justify spending so much on a defense budget when their several parts of their country are suffering and starving.
Noone wins in war, just tragedy, heartbreak and further contention.
If these two countries leaders sat down, put the differences and pride aside and agree to work together and help solve each others agricultural and economical problems together then there would be hope.
You know and I know that dictators will never do this, or will they?

P.S. sorry if this is jumbled, arm is in sling 😒

You said your ex military well Yesterday in the middle of negotiations in the north Russia dropped 10 bombs near the in-laws in Kiev what type of negotiations would they be ?

It seems thankfully that there has been some descalation on the global scene but sadly further escalation for Ukraine.

Seems that apart from Russia putting their nuclear and other deterrent forces on high alert reading different things the US is concerned that the total assets that can be seized by them from Russia is less than what Russia can seize from the west domestically. Also they are concerned by possible major cyber attacks on the western banking system and directly on SWIFT the actual tool of sanctions used by the west on Russia. Apart from this concerns that Russia will begin cutting undersea cables globally using submarines just as a primary pushback by Russia .

Elsewhere, the US is concerned that Russia is well insulated against sanctions and will increasingly form a Eurasian block with China India and Pakistan and even concerns about some closer co operation with Brazil and this will quicken moves by many to increasingly move away from SWIFT and the US dollar.

Russia has moved units to the Polish border splitting the posture of NATO s rapid defense force so less is available on the Ukrainian border. Tactical nuclear forces are now in Belarus.

So the limits of US and western power against another superpower.

Reading Russian news sources it seems a call took place last night between Putin and Macron whereby Macron told Putin that in the advance on Kiev the Russians should allow 1) a safe corridor to the south for civilians, 2) avoid damage to civilian infrastructure and 3) stop all strikes on civilians. Putin accepted these.

There has been a marked reduction in rhetoric from the western side. Even hints of the unraveling of sanctions as soon as Russia descalates.

Reading between the lines it appears that WW3 is off the table and the west is tacitly accepting Russia to complete it's military objectives, unless of course Ukraine is good enough to stop them in order to allow Russia to dictate the peace negotiations.

Also reading between the lines it seems that the west believes that ever having Ukraine in NATO would be a liability because of the many potential flashpoints but Ukraine must fight a war and lose it so domestically they can get their own people to accept no NATO membership politically. The negotiations yesterday may have included a ceasefire in return for non NATO membership, but politically now emboldened the Ukrainians can't accept this so the war must go on. If Ukraine can somehow hold on the calculations may change.

So it seems sadly may casualties . The diplomacy has been pathetic on every side.

Disgraceful Putin apologist.....

Ive snipped this out of a long and disgraceful post. You are delusional. Ukraine are fighting this war to convince its people that it cant be in NATO? Are you serious? Ukraine are fighting this war because a military superpower invaded their country and are bombing the hell out of them , destroying their cities and killing civilians. THAT is why they are fighting. As far as convincing its people that they cant be in NATO. If NATO says no, its no, otherwise, its a democratic country.

You go on in your delusion, stating that the Ukranians are the ones extending this war, because they are emboldened?

Failed negotiations by people with different agendas. I'm unsure what you want me to say to what I've already written and what your asking of me.

Putin has moved into public enemy 2 in the Wests Tigers Forum rankings
Luke Brooks still has him covered though by my count
Don’t believe everything you read about Brooksy 😁

People are dying and you make a joke about it,it says a lot about you and none of it is good

The interesting thing about all this is that today there was a clip on a US newscast showing a guy who lives in Ukraine telling them that he fears the gangs in Ukraine more than the Russians..
Apparently Zelenky handed out weapons to the civillians and some were gang members who have created more crime in the cities than any damage the Russians have done...Also they had a clip of a woman with a rifle in her hand and told the reporter that she is fighting for the New World Order(Soros and co.)
Theres just 2 scenarios that were posted today...can you believe them or the news that shows bodies and damage from old footage of Saravejo,or the fighter planes that were bombing Kyev that were fact checked and found to be 2020 Russian air show in Moscow with war sounds dubbed in...

I said all along that there is more to this than what we are seeing....I dont really believe anything until it is genuine ....but then again in todays world, what is bloody genuine...

Let me get this straight.....EVERY news outlet in the world, that is posting images of missile attacks, massive damage, death and destruction in Ukraine, as well as all the social media posts showing same.....ARE ALL in on it, all in the pocket of the cabal?

Apparently so. But at least there is one person in the world (an Aussie) who knows the truth. 7 billion people on the planet and the only place you hear it is on the WTF. A RL forum on the other side of the world.
