The two Australian cricketers I admired the most are Ian Chappell and Deniss Lillee, At this time both are healthy and I listened to Ian Chappell speak yesterday. He has always been a very impressive cricketer.

Worldwide, Viv Richards, Clive Lloyd, Brian Lara, Andy Roberts and the late Malcolm Marshall.

Wasim Akrim was similar to Warne in that he could sum up the weakness of a batsman quickly and bowl the perfect delivery.
 
If someone on here goes out of their way to disagree with every single person on every single post then IMO it is bound to come back at them eventually. You can't play the role of the person stirring the pot all the time and then have a whinge when people return serve.

I never disagreed with anybody. Sure, I speculated on something I shouldn’t have, but I let that go pretty quickly. I never was disrespectful to anyone. Yet I had personal insults hurled at me from more than one poster. Suddenly people are coming at me, throwing the mental health card in my face. I never said one word about that yesterday. It was poor all round, and I acknowledge my part in it. Will others acknowledge there’s?

This is my take. GNR is just pessimistic and people get offended too easily.

I can't be bothered reading through this specific thread and drama but I also thought straight away that he had to have taken some drugs. I didn't post it because I didn't have any knowledge that was the case. He seems young. I don't think it was drugs now though apart from smoking being a risk for heart disease. I think sometimes heart disease is just bad luck / genetics. A guy from my work years ago had 3 daughters under 8 and he was early 40's. He was going for his morning jog and had a massive heart attack and died. He had a family history or heart disease.

Chapelli is a very smart bloke when it comes to cricket. Problem is he is a miserable and critical old fart at the best of times and always seems to revel in reminiscing about the 70's and harping on about Ashley Mallett instead of calling what's in front of him.

I think a lot of people would have speculated about it even if they won’t admit it. However, there has been no evidence to suggest drugs were involved. The article I posted this morning backs that up. As for me, am I negative? Sure. And I know that can rub people the wrong way. Some people don‘t like things that can interfere with their preferred narrative. Quick example, several years ago I was on the Magpie fanatic page and they were all convinced the Magpies were coming back. I would say they weren’t, and they all thought I was an arsehole. All because I was telling them something that interfered with their fantasy. That happens a lot on here sometimes when you remind people we aren’t the team they think we are. Then it degenerates.

But enough about that. As I said yesterday, this is probably the most high profile death we have seen in this country for years. There aren’t too many other Aussie figures who as larger than life as he was. Not even other cricketers like McGrath, Gilchrist or Ponting. He was one of a kind in that regard. And it’s not like when a high profile NRL or AFL player passes away, because parts of the country would not know who they are due to what codes dominate each state. Cricket is nationwide. His death has affected the entire country.

Well if what Chappell said is true about Botham allegedly threatening to put a broken glass in his face I'd be holding a lifelong grudge against that as well. That's a low act. Not sure if I'd 100% believe anything Ian Chappell says though.

McGrath would get as much sympathy out of me as Ivan Milat. Macca's number might be up if his 4WD ever runs out of fuel when he's on a gamepark in Africa hunting endangered species again😡. No time for him at all.

Wonder if he’ll have a state funeral. David Hookes funeral was at the Adelaide Oval. Wonder if his will be at the MCG. Wouldn’t surprise me.
