Mmm imagine the colour of the chunder
The heartbreak has already arrived with his injuries.I feel you're in for some heartbreak old mate....
I can guarantee you, If (and it's a big if) he's playing rep footy - It won't be at 6...The heartbreak has already arrived with his injuries.
I see a quality 5/8, future rep player and a guy who can only if improve if his body allows him.
Tamou, Mikaele and Ofahengaue are all off contract. the only 'new' prop we've signed is Fonua Pole.
Robbie Farah rated Fonua Pole very highly in a recent Podcast interview
Karl Filiga i think his name was.The centre but can not remember the name just the photo in my head of him at Shark park
Russell Richardson? had a couple good seasons at Sharks. Played a couple test matches then got a big contract at Souths but couldn't make their first grade team. I think at one point he couldn't make their reserve grade team and was playing park footy on a first grade contract. The centre but can not remember the name just the photo in my head of him at Shark park
The last established quality second rower we signed was Ellis...
The last established quality centre we signed was Whatuira....
We haven't bothered with them for the last decade or more - Why start now?
The 2 most important defensive position on the field, we totally ignore them and wonder why our defence sucks...
Beats me.
this is what i thought as well, and why i dont believe this one. Manly will keep Sione around the club in order to keep the other 4 happy there. It's interesting as Manly don't often let a brother of a family member go especially when the younger one is meant to be the superstar of the future.
But signing him for this year? When we still have those guys contracted wouldn't make much sense. When we still have such a glaring weakness in the squad in the back row.Tamou, Mikaele and Ofahengaue are all off contract. the only 'new' prop we've signed is Fonua Pole.
Fainu makes sense. NSW U/18 player of the year a couple of years ago, close with Lambkin and has his pathway blocked by a logjam in his position. very similar signing to Blore/Laurie/Kepaoa. I like it and it ensures we're not rushing any of the kids in Flegg.
If you note I separated quality 5/8 and rep player with a comma.I can guarantee you, If (and it's a big if) he's playing rep footy - It won't be at 6...
(Unless you're counting Lebanon)
I've seen enough to know he's destined for the back row, And with the log jam there he won't be a rep level back rower.
Why do you only mention the players that worked out well.
Matterson played in a grand final before signing here. BJ played centre in the grand final for Canberra before coming here. Then you have Adam Blair, James Roberts etc.
If you note I separated quality 5/8 and rep player with a comma.
It was well documented at the time he was only signed for about 350k a season which is why it kind of made sense. Tigers lacked leadership and experience up front and he was the current captain of a team who got beaten in a GF. We haven't cashed in with him given his output however you can't fault the club for thinking he'd offer something we lacked at a reasonable price.I'd be disgusted if Tamou is on $800k.
He is worth much more than that going by last year's efforts. Bathrobe models don't come cheap.
Karl Filiga i think his name was.
I thought dias was great in the 2nd trialSeeing Dias in and around the trials had me wondering if there's something there also....
There was also a story that the week after he signed and we played the Dogs, after the game told Tolman that Tolman was wearing his jersey. Fast forward a year, and the Dogs moved Woods on and Tolman kept his spot. Then fast forward again a couple of years, they both find themselves at the Sharks, and again Woods gets moved on and again Tolman retains his spot.He signed to play with his mate Klemmer too, but then klemmer wanted out of the dogs that same year
Karl Filiga i think his name was.
That's himKarl Filiga i think his name was.
agree with you that our back row stocks are horrendous, but it seems as if our recruitment has been with an eye on the future. if Fainu is an important part of our roster moving forward then it's best to get him in as early as possible. But signing him for this year? When we still have those guys contracted wouldn't make much sense. When we still have such a glaring weakness in the squad in the back row.
