Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

There was also a story that the week after he signed and we played the Dogs, after the game told Tolman that Tolman was wearing his jersey. Fast forward a year, and the Dogs moved Woods on and Tolman kept his spot. Then fast forward again a couple of years, they both find themselves at the Sharks, and again Woods gets moved on and again Tolman retains his spot.
That can not be true can it someone so arrogant but he is a world class Di#k
He has all the interviews to prove it when he retires he can go back and watch them

Future superstar as well. For what he will become, he's on unders

In a few years people will sit there and ask how a player that good can be on less than $500k and accuse them of cap cheating, but they've signed him up real early
Madge have a go at getting Howarth here but if a good talent had to choose between WT and Storm, end of story.

As I said, Unless you count a lower tier nation - I think you'll find history will tell that he won't be either.
He will play Origin.

I'd put money on that. Big body, versatile, can cover most positions. He is a special for origin down the track. If his body holds up

You say that because Peachey and Laurie are favoured in other positions..ATM.
however, if you had to choose between all the players who have played 6?
Hastings mite be 7 by the end of the year and Brooks mite be off to Newcastle it will be interesting if Brooks announces he is off to Newcastle before the season is over who would be 6 then ?

Bold statement and the odds are very much against you here.

AD is 24 this year, played 70 NRL games and hasn't even cemented a dedicated position on the park for a team tipped to come last. To play SOO he needs to learn how to defend let alone cement his position.

In 2021 as a benchmark for 5/8ths:
Munster made 100 more tackles than AD for same missed tackle count
Wighton made 140 more tackles and missed 5 less tackles
Luai made 160 more tackles and missed 6 less tackles
Schuster made more than double amount of tackles and missed 16 less tackles
Walker made 100 more tackles and missed 17 less tackles

Lets pick Avirello from the Bulldogs who made 100 more tackles, missed 22 less tackles

Why do you only mention the players that worked out well.

Matterson played in a grand final before signing here. BJ played centre in the grand final for Canberra before coming here. Then you have Adam Blair, James Roberts etc.
That’s a failure on our recruiting team to identify obvious flogs

Good Point...
I honestly didn't think of them - Forgot about Blair, However - I don't think he was that good at any club after the Storm. So weather he was quality or just did a job at the Storm is open to debate.
I could argue Roberts hasn't played decent footy in a couple years.
The others weren't around long enough to jog my memory...

Although I note you've only listed 2 Centres (Since 2005 - Both let go while contracted from their previous club) And 2 Backrowers (Since 2009) That we've recruited... There may be a sprinkling more of them - I can't think of any.

It's 2 positions we've seriously neglected forever....
It needs to change.
Right with you mate. These days RL coaches aim their attack straight at the channel protected by the 2nd rower and centre, who are usually protecting a suspect little fella. You just can’t be weak there.

Its

It was well documented at the time he was only signed for about 350k a season which is why it kind of made sense. Tigers lacked leadership and experience up front and he was the current captain of a team who got beaten in a GF. We haven't cashed in with him given his output however you can't fault the club for thinking he'd offer something we lacked at a reasonable price.
Yep, definitely knew he wasn't on $800k or anywhere close to it.
Not putting the club at fault for his signing, I was one supporter who thought he would've been a good signing for us leadership-wise. If the Tiger Town documentary showed anything it was how much of a letdown his captaincy and leadership was. It was absolutely non-existent.

Yup... If he can't tackle the lowly Broncos or Cowboys - He's not tackling the Maroons.
If he's not tackling, he's not playing...

That said, He's 24.... Has time to learn how to defend.
But he best get to it.

I’ve heard once douhei is back fit and healthy brooks is going to Newcastle, because brooks has already purchased a place up there, heard that from a mate who has a friend that works for one of the player managers

Not saying you're wrong mate,
But if your mate of a mate who works for a guy that works with other footballers knows this

- So does everyone else in the game...

Not saying it won't happen but sounds strange given all the talk has totally dried up and we have Madden waiting in the wings off contract next year.

It would be even stranger to be moving your captain and someone who they have defended very heavily during the off season.
