Michael Maguire leaves club

Doing my best to block out yesterday's game it was a horror.

Just seeing some blokes giving up on plays in round 2, gee that's pathetic.

That lack of effort is a personal reflection not withstanding any of Madges shortcomings.

Sheens should address the players about personal accountability and put them on notice. Make Hastings captain and give Madge a few weeks more.

I always remember that game Round 1 2018 when Maguire was coaching Souths against the Tigers and Greg Inglis did his ACL early in the game and he kept him on the field for another 50 or so minutes.
Do you remember also in that game he scored a try off a scrum play just before half time?

NRL 2022: Tim Sheens makes call on Michael Maguire’s Wests Tigers future

Phil Rothfield and Brent Read

In the wake of his side’s embarrassing loss to Newcastle, Wests Tigers boss Tim Sheens has addressed the futures of the club’s most under siege names.
Wests Tigers boss Tim Sheens has backed his under siege coach Michael Maguire to keep his job despite a poor start to the season.
In the aftermath of Sunday’s humiliating 26-4 loss to an understrength Newcastle, Sheens has returned serve on the critics calling for Maguire to be sacked.

“It’s a bit early to be jumping the gun – it’s round two for goodness sake, not round 22,” Sheens said.

“I’ve been around too long for knee-jerk reactions. I won’t be sucked into it.

I’m standing by Madge and the team. People wanted to sack Des Hasler after four weeks last year and then look what happened at Manly.

“Our job is to put our heads down, stick together, and be solid to each other.”

The former premiership-winning coach at the Raiders and Wests Tigers admits Sunday’s performance in Newcastle was not good enough but refuses to blame individuals.

“Yes they had a bad day yesterday and the whole world has jumped on them,” he said.

I’ve been around too long for all this speculation and I won’t be sucked into it.

“In 2005 we were running 11th and there were issues about whether I should be there.

I thought it was all generic stuff until the last line. 2005 is the best thing to happen to WT but referring to it 17 years later is stupid.

There is a big allegation here. You are assuming Madge knew he did his ACL. The ACL test you do on-field, you can get a false negative 1 out of 10x, especially if he didn't have a meniscus or MCL injury to go with it. He might have been misdiagnosed by the physio (again, it happens) and you can still play without an ACL. To allege that Madge knew GI did his ACL and forced him to play is wrong unless you have an article or something to prove it.

I wonder if Cleary or Griffen (can’t remember who at the time) will ever get slack for allowing Wallace to play a full game with an acl injury?

Just quoting this year's results.
Don't worry about the other 10.
At least des has results behind him.
Sheens can [This word has been automatically removed] off too.
Senile old prick

It was well documented at the time you can google it if you don't remember. It was actually 2017 not 2018 or you can watch the game replay on the NRL website

I think Gus said he actually played a whole year without it but no one knew about it.

I see a repeat of 2005 occuring. It’s probably the first season start we’ve seen for many many years where every side is competitive and capable.
That’s the only resemblance though, I can’t see us getting there with our roster this year.
