Michael Maguire leaves club

Most are giving it to Madge and want him gone. I don't agree but I'm just a supporter and want us to do well.

Just a genuine question - I thought 'the club' and 'Sheens' removed Madge's assistants and staff and gave him what we have now. So not only are the players not having a genuine dig, but the coach doesn't even have his own support staff. If this is true (sorry if its not), but why is everyone still going after Maguire?

And one last thing, can we stop suggesting Flanagan as a coach. The bloke is a gold plated tool, cant get a gig anyone else either. Doesn't that tell you something.

Madge has lost them. They are all his squad now and they are not performing for him.

I've been a backer of Madge and I don't think this is all the coaches fault for reasons I've suggested above but I don't subscribe to the sunk cost fallacy. If we're to salvage anything of this season probably best he goes now.

Pascoe better be sliding those fingers along the abacus this morning working out the payout figure for Maguire.

The one tip off I received from a work colleague over 3 years ago that Maguire had signed that day was correct. The other tip from the same colleague that Maguire did not suit the WTs' style of play was also correct. The colleague had been involved with coaching and scouting at another club and if he could see it, why couldn't our Board? Just like the Board when it melted rather than sacking him last year. It may have cost us, but what is the cost now of retaining him and becoming the laughing stock of the NRL.
I think when they extended his contract, they inserted a payout clause that was in the clubs favour. So I do not think terminating Madge would be a massive financial blow. Although who ever they put in there is in for a very hard gig

Cayless and Gardiner are his assistant coaches with the NZ team. Gardiner was also at Souths with Maguire.

Being the main game on prime tele yesterday was more evidence to the rugby league world that the tigers are easybeats in 2022.'I've supported some poor wests and or wests tigers teams over the years but these teams always offered hope. This present mob with the style they play offers nothing.
Opposition teams in 2022 would be banking their two points against the tigers already.
Supporters got the same vitriol from madge at yesterday's press conference. He doesn't offer anything new in his comments.
The most important question this week is will the club continue to sit on their hands and do nothing?
Wests Tigers supporters deserve better.

I can't speak for anyone else mate, but i'm going after him because i think passion is all he brings. He is passionate about what he does, but he cannot get his roster to fire, his use of the bench is poor ( as it was last year) and as i alluded to earlier the 5 captain debacle is one thing that just screams of indecisiveness. To use the quietest bloke on the field as our captain was like Oprah handing out prizes to the audience.
Most of all though, like you, i just want us to do well but i don't ever see that happening with Madge at the helm.

Some of the players looked injured even Twals form is down. No wonder he gets a bad rep he seems to push blokes to hard especially when injured knowing Madges style we are probably still doing full contact at training.

Thing is the Balmain and Wests side of yesteryear all had a go. They were shit, but the effort was there.

He needs to go.

Was willing him to give him a chance but have come to the conclusion that the players will NEVER buy in to his game.

He had a chance to stick up for Luciano after that cannonball tackle. Was asked directly in the press conference and wouldn't go on record to defend his player and call out the dog shot on him.

No different to Jason Taylor throwing Rankin under the bus. That's when Taylor lost the playing group and this will be the end of Maguire as well

You can't ask players to buy in if you are not willing to stand up for them in public.

Next.

I'll give him 5 weeks. It's over.

And here we are.

This is over!

What did you call the 5 Club Captains (That's actually just a leadership group this year)
in 2018 when Ivan Cleary did it and we almost made the 8, And our halfback won the Dally M?

Pushing players over the limit does not make up for loss of class in coach and players. In fact it is a great deterrent to players.

I always remember that game Round 1 2018 when Maguire was coaching Souths against the Tigers and Greg Inglis did his ACL early in the game and he kept him on the field for another 50 or so minutes.

I mentioned in the live game thread. For where we are and have been on the ladder for so many years, naming 5 captains makes us look like an even bigger clown show. How Madge can not see how this would make us look

Exactly. I wouldn’t feel so frustrated if the guys appeared to really be trying as a team, but we have the 5 captains circus, Peach even said he doesn’t know what his role is.
To see them laughing and joking with the opposition after that dismal performance was infuriating.

Recruiting good attitude needs to go to the top of the list.

We need guys who understand and are worthy of the investment that we fans place in the team.

Losing on the week end wrecks my whole week.

No sackings !
I want a commemorative wooden spoon ..
Once that’s in the bag , fold the dump of a club !

Let's not cast stones at coaches who have played players with injury - there will be a long list.
