[2022] If Madge goes, who you have as a replacement?

Easy John Morris is my pick look what they done to him at the sharks is nothing short of disgraceful the low life's they are he had them going quiet well
You would think with Sheens around, Johnny Cronk would at least be a chance to get a bit of a look in, but then why would he come here and ruin his coaching career.

Better off staying where he is even if it is Souffs.

I can't believe the boss Tim Sheens is backing madge with his attitude. He won't last long at the club either making ludicrous decisions like he is watch this space when the tigers keep getting flogged week in week out then he might have a change of heart. Madge should leave the club volunteeraly. Better for him than getting the sack. I personally think he is greedy prick and won't leave because the salary is too great. He is not a coaches ashore. It's simple he can't get the tigers going I just wish he would pack his bags and piss off his no good. I don't even watch the tigers any more knowing his the coach unfortunately. Surely theirs some brains on the board to piss him off you don't have to be Einstein to work out what a hopeless invisible of a coach he is. This is purely my opinion some fans may disagree others might agree. Everyone is entitled to their say and that's mine cheers

It's Sheen's always has been there is a reason he is staying away from the coaching unlike Gus he doesn't want to be brushed in the same light

And ready to go

He may as well take most of the squad with him, because they are to dumb to learn from their mistakes and keep making the same the next week....Brooks has been here 10 seasons and was given the team..you know "its his team"but Hastings who has been here 2 games outshone the lot of them on Sunday...Blame Madge all you like, but you can coach a shetland pony to run,but it will never win a Melb Cup...

Yuck! He's been awful for a long time. Might as well keep Madge
2017 was the year they made the grand final, 2018 was JT's last year (the infamous one year too long) and then he was fired halfway through 2020. He didn't do too bad last year in Origin, game 1 from memory was when they got flogged.

I have seen his conferences, a couple of interviews. He knows his players very well, has a no nonsense approach to the game. I like him and if he gets another shot at a semi-decent club, I think he will go well.

I think I've found the flaw in your argument.

Of all the names mentioned, I would back Toovey, if he is still interested in coaching. I know he was for a while, but may have moved on. I think he has the fire and also the footy smarts. He did a good job rebuilding Manly after Des left and has his players backs (remember the "needs to be an investigation" presser?).

I still think we should see the year out with Madge as it looks like a lost cause, but with Toovey (or whoever it ends up being) announced now as the '23 coach. That way players can be recruited knowing who will be there. I know this would be unusual, but if it is Madge's hard nosed approach that is scaring off the would be recruits, they will know he is going.

Left field choice Joey Johns. Apparently wants to coach at NRL level. Got a massive football brain, sadly did not leave much room for anything else. Also most modern day players would have grown up with his poster on the wall.Because of his status in the game you would imagine he could attract players.

Of course it would be highly unlikely he would give up a secure media gig along with other irons he has in the fire , to take on a death nail gig in tigertown.

Andrew Johns has said he doesn't want to be an NRL coach

Seriously, there’s no chance of me becoming an NRL coach. Absolutely no chance.

Solid rant. Get em onside.

Sorry mate but he is not very good. His structures were terrible and he never changed even they constantly didn't work. He picks players out of position and he oversaw the cowboys salary cap mess. No thanks.

As long as its someone not wanting to use it as stepping stone to become a coach elsewhere.
Ben Gardiner would be decent, he worked wonders in reserves and or John Morris, but would he leave Bunnies so early.

It'd be John Morris or Ciraldo. Morris knows Sheens and the club. He dealt with a bad situation at Cronulla quite well and Sheens will give him plenty of cover.

For those of you surprised at Sheens' support for Maguire and Brooks, it appears he is evaluating what we have. With Brooks I think he'll get decent value for him if he leaves.

If we're being completely fair dinkum, There are are only 2 choices out there. We do not want a coach that has been sacked - there was a reason they were sacked and very few are successful the 2nd time around, the exceptions over the last 20 years being Sheens and Cleary. As for an up and coming Assistant coach, Ciraldo has already said no once and I don't think anyone else is up to it.

1. Kristian Woolf - tbh, I don't know too much about him but better judges than me rate him highly.
2. Shane Flanagan - I know there are some that are sceptical about him due to what happened at Cronulla, but he is a proven winner and gets the best out of his players.

Even though I like Maguire, he's not getting the players performing to their potential. Is some of this on the players; you bet it is. Saying that though, when you have a great coach that gives you confidence, you'll run through a brick wall. I was disheartened to see Newcastle roll up the field 60 metres a set and we were lucky to get 40 on the weekend. Something is seriously wrong here.

We want our players playing to their potential and playing the football we know they are capable of.
