Luke Brooks - Mega Thread

Are the forwards to blame for him bottling kicks for touch?
Why doesn't someone else do the kicking then. We used to have a winger that kicked, even in general play but that was when we had a coach that used players strengths to benefit the team as opposed to a style that went out last decade. If Hastings or someone else is better than why is our coach not using them. I would suggest that Luke is our best kicker because if he isnt than the questions need to be put squarely at the feet of Madge and his game plans.

The forwards were terrible and Brooks made the game worse. His kicking was miserable, he couldn't organise any backline movements, he went missing on last tackle options. I'm not a Brooks hater, but with Brodie Croft out of the league it's hard to point to a more disappointing halfback.

He's had terrible forward play this season, but he's also not taken any opportunity he's been given or swung a game back in our favour. He looked really good in the final trial match, he just is not capable of succeeding in this team and is a part of the problem.

It's a shame we didn't consider the Newcastle offer (if there was one), he will be worth very little at the moment. Would have been a bit of short term pain to make a new start.

For the record, I wanted Madge back and I wanted Brooks to stay. Obviously feeling regretful about both watching our futile play.

Every time I see this thread come up it makes my blood boil,,,get rid of the piece of useless shit he has done absolutely nothing in 10yrs and I'm sure everyone will agree,,,there won't be one single tigers supporter left if this idiot is still going around and leading his team to absolutely nowhere

Like every single player on Sunday, Brooks was not good. That said and further to your point above, the ridiculous commentary on performance began from the first set of the match, some absolutely absurd regarding Brooks.

After our forwards got WT to the point where the last tackle kick was taken some 18 metres short of halfway and into a strong headwind. It was caught just outside the red Newcastle 20 metre line despite the stiff breeze.

A 45 metre gain in such conditions was about the best to hope for and should have been applauded, yet it was described as garbage as the knives came out early to start proceedings. WT were owned from the kick-off and up until late in the match.
I’ll admit. I had similar initial thoughts. Then after the 5m kick for touch I heard about the breaze and I all made sense.
However.
Why don’t they try a low trajectory kick beneath the wind?

doesn't work like that though we either pay Brooks contract out or we don't just like mmbye and Dragons
no point telling Brooks his contract is void as it is not going to happen
There is a point though in telling him that he won’t be renewed at the end of the season. Or a less harsh approach is that we don’t have the cap to offer a new contract on similar terms.
That gives him 6 months prior to hitting the market to consider his options, OR six months to show the Tigers it is necessary for him to be retained.

So for 6 months we are going to be misserable till he [This word has been automatically removed]s off,,worst overpaid player ever going around the little grub

Stop sitting on the fence and let us know what your thoughts on brooks is.

He’s done nothing to warrant being called a little grub.
Yes he has, his sucked all that money away from the Tigers salary cap ensuring that no other marquee players could be signed.
Funny experiment.
Brooks may be overpaid as a halfback in a cost for value ratio but I reckon you would find across all 16 clubs he would be the lowest paid Marquee player.
Where is the remainder of our cap going?

That’s the clubs fault. Its not his responsibility to manage the cap.
