Regardless of what you think of Maguire comparing what Fitzgibbon has to work worth compared to our squad - there is no comparison. Man for man we would be hard pressed to find one player to make their team that would make a difference to them.
Training great is useless if the players cant make a decision for themselves on the field in the moment. Teams that are successful have players who can read what is happening in the game and act on it. Coaches rely on those players - they are not in their ear telling them every move to make during the game - they dont have to be. Nico Hynes has that ability and he had it last year too because he learned how to be a winner at a club laden with quality players and coaches. We take just a couple of those Cronulla players last night and we win comfortably.

No Blore, no AD, no AJ,no Hastings, no Tommy T, no Jet, down a second rower and no big Ken. Always going to be a hard night to get a result.
Not defending Madge, but any coach would struggle. Having half your squad on the side lines, in a squad that is already pretty average is a near impossible gig for a coach.
The next month will be very ugly, teams will rack some big numbers up

Agree mate, sharks have some nrlharden men that can step up in their roles and the junior mix to match.
We just don't have experienced nrl players that can nail their role and carry the team.
Sharks Finucane, Moylen, and hynes carrying the team.

I have bagged Madge over the years but he didn’t lose us that game last night.
Bad ref no calls, handling errors at crucial moments and just total panic/lack of ownership when the time mattered cost us mixed with 8-9 players missing leading to players out of position + new combos. The players also bombed 3-4 tries last night.
Brooks had a mixed game but when we needed him to lead his supposed team in the last 10mins he failed. We had field position, a player advantage & momentum - instead of setting us up for block/planned plays and calming the team down he disappeared or stuffed up & we looked panicked/lost to the extent the Warriors could’ve scored but we were lucky they didn’t.

This is Maguire's 4th year and he has recruited many of the squad. Fitzgibbon is relatively inexperienced and new to the Sharks but has already instilled a winning culture and his squad play for one another. The Sharks' standard of basic football is far higher and their crisp short passing was a highlight.
The Sharks have been performing well for years and nothing like our club. Their standard of football has been at a higher standard than ours for some years now due to their squad and coaches. Good players want to play there - even with changes in the coaching staff.Our team was in a position to win that game last night on numerous occasions and that's all on the players inabiity/will/focus execution what ever you want to call it - to get the job done.

You can only recruit players who are willing to sign on with us. Madge has gone after the best but has been knocked back and has had to settle for players lower down on his wish list.
Elite players will play for clubs who are in the hunt rather than sign up for more at the Tigers. It will only change when the perception of our club changes

I can't remember when we had an outside back run over 200 metres in a game (maybe not since Tedesco).
