NQ must be spewing about signing Luciano for $700k next year. They have starting superstars in their own backyard. Why take up good cap space by making the Luc transaction. Doesn't make sense.

What about Luke Lewis, Ennis, Gallen etc. there’s a lot of talent and experience around their youth. That’s my point.

This is getting very frustrating as it seems like we are the only club that can not produce a real top line talent.. Most clubs have them coming out of the woodwork and all we can do is poach some of them but the biggest question is WHY are they not stepping up when they get here ???? I am starting to think we don't have the right coaches here developing them and that alone is hard to say.. IDK the answers but maybe just maybe a new leader is actually needed or a massive clean out again..

Players follow players more so than coaches. We lack true leaders in the playing group and guys like Stefano will suffer as long as that continues.

Yeah for sure, we need to recruit some leaders and experience too. But obviously we not the Roosters. But can't just keep doing what we doing.

Straight swap meaning they take Brooks full contract and we take Thompson's? Or are we making up the difference between the two assuming there is one?

I think it’s more to do with talent identification skill.

I don’t think any club signs players they believe will never be good enough to be a rep player. For example, Joey thinks he can turn Brooks into a rep player.

Yeah I don't know the right words for it. But know we have way too many losers in the team at present.

I’d love for you to be right, but they chose to retain his mate Cory Paix who is slightly older but playing half back at the time and had the plan to turn him into a hooker. If they wanted to keep him they wouldn’t of retained Paix first.

Paix is 2yrs older than Simpkins, we signed him as an 18yr old.
Alot of people forget how young Simpkins is. I actually think he will make it.
There are no other 20yr old hookers in the NRL the next wave after Simpkin are late 22-23 onwards and even those he is comparable to already. He is giving 3yrs on the next batch on young hookers. He is one we need to take slowly, we don't want him making 30-40 tackles a week for a few years or he will be burnt out before he is 28.

Tuilagi looks a first grader and he’s gone. Seriously the club would ruin a chook raffle.

Kelma looks good for 2 or 3 hitups a game, outside of that his work rate is poor.
He gets gassed after 50mins and his defensive work rate is terrible.
I'm not saying he doesn't have what it takes - he has some spark & natural skill but has heaps of work to be an NRL starter over the next few years.

Our policy of not over spending may have got our cap back in order but we're now left with the crappy situation where we are way under the cap and don't have enough quality in our squad to win games.

We have money to spend, time to make a splash.

Ponga signed with Newie from North Queensland when they were an absolute rabble because they threw heaps of cash at him. We've got to aim high and hope to convince a big fish soon
