Doesn’t matter which coach you bring in, we don’t have the cattle at the moment- we have the worst roster by far in the comp.

If we change coach it must be someone who can bring in two or three elite players with the cap money we have available. Not sure any coach out there has that sort of appeal ?

He couldn’t do what you want Madge sacked for not being able to do - but is somehow a better coach all of a sudden?

Ivan has coached in the NRL for the best part of 20 years and won 1 comp - Madge did it in his 10… In his first few in fact.

By my count - they’re about even.

I'll back Robbies opinions and actions over Madges, don't care if you guys don't like that, or don't like him. He is a competitor, always played his guts out for the club unlike these other flogs. Will always a club legend to me and has done more for this club then that fraud Madge.

Unfortunately he thought he was greater than the club at one stage and tried to run it,you know,Potter cant coach,JT cant coach....wake up,your looking through your emotional glasses,I consider a coach who respects the players,respects the club,is passionate about the game and developing youth has core principles and morals that are great attributes...thats what I see in Madge,Robbie being a club legend doesnt make him a better person,or Madge a flog...

Squad is Key.

Parachute Bellemy into Tigers in 2022 and the results will be similar.

This is a culture problem at the Tigers that turns recruits to garbage and sees any player with promise jump at the chance to move on.

Yet another mid season coaching change would be a disaster.

Good points about the squad. Agree with your argument. Squad starts with a match winning game controlling half back which we desperately need .

Guess u have to look at it from a legal stand point of view with Maguire contract.

Tigers would be waiting for trigger points to sack Maguire without having to pay the rest of contract.

If we have to pay him out (which is a lot of money) then literally pissing away money that could be spent in junior development.

Look i have to disagree, I think Ivan did some good things with our squad. We grinded some good wins out against Storm, Roosters etc and we’re competing in most of our games.

He was doing all the right things and had us competing, I have no doubts we would have made the top 8 under him.

The issue we have is he signed some crap players, Reynolds, Mutalino and Packer etc.

They were crap but I have no doubts they would have performed under Ivan.

Tedesco was always two feet out the door, I can’t blame him for that. He made the wrong decision between Moses and Brooks though..

Until we somehow convince the players we want and need to come to the club all coaches will be set up to fail - and soon we will have two respected ones that have made little impact on our position. Our lack of success is our inability to attract and keep players - and now we don't develop them either. Until we break that cycle, made even more difficult with an additional club in the mix - more of the same.
Api K and Papali two good signings but a long way to go. Gould is buying Barrett a team while strengthening junior systems other wise he knows the outcome. With all they invested they still are key players short. To expect that Maguire staying or going will make some significant difference - and I expect him to go - is not accepting where the real problems lie - with the squad. The players know it even if they don't admit it.

You can think that, He could only keep one - And he pulled the contract for the one most likely to leave.
People also forget it was Ivan that put deadlines on the Contracts for Tedesco & Woods - Would they have stayed, Probably not... But he put deadlines on the contracts which only further agitated the players.
Some of the Players he signed played more football for him than they did after he left - Packer was injured most of his time after Ivan, Ben Matulino Retired Injured and Reynolds was always injured...
You say you have no doubts they would have performed, How? They were injured...

I couldn't see us going any better... Maybe he couldn't either - And hit the eject button when he had the chance.

Not sure what all the drama is about.
We seem to be well on track as a club.
Three rounds in ... dead last in the NRL, second last in NSW Cup, and third last in Flegg.

Follow that pattern through and you get to Wests Matthews Cup side which is undefeated and leaders of the comp two weeks out from the finals.

So on paper, Our team is very rarely rated against the opposition - And hasn't been this year...

Players get teams into position to win games, Players get teams into position to win comps - Not coaches.... Coaches prepare the players that are capable of winning.

No one in the game rates our squad - But they talk about us because we sell media spots...
Our coach may well not be the answer, Our squad certainly isn't.

We could have Jack Gibson, the squad would still not be good enough to make finals.
We just need an exciting, tenacious coach who would be a big attraction for players.

Don't disagree - But there's only one of them....
I don't think anyone here wouldn't trade Madge for Robbo...

That said, He still had players like Teddy, Tupouiniua, Morris, Liu, Tupou, Butcher Boys, Taukaiaho, Radley was there or there abouts, Chrichton, Walker....

We just don't have ANY players really of that calibre....

I think most of u on here are missing the point , yes we have a poor squad but a coaches job is to mould what ever group he has into a team , well Madge has had 4 years to try and do that and has failed , WHAT I don’t see is any improvement in defence at all its getting worse each year , I don’t see any set plays or playing out the back when in the twenty two , these are things a coach is employed to drill into the players , yet in four years we are seeing nothing .
