A professional sporting team should be able to operate without Hastings and Doueihi. Robbie is presumably there with the team and is in another league as a player compared to those two.If it is a precedent then it is one that should have been set years ago,a professional sporting team needs to have the best preparation it can get.If Sheens made the decision to knock it on the head then he has made an error imo
Probably a tax claimable expense tooHe’s the director of Football, not the financial advisor.
$100 for flights is nothing.
I might be different to others in this thinking but I think the club should of got the 2 of them up there. This just shows to players these are the 2 guys are committed to the long term future and want to become leaders of the club.. It's like any business if you want to succeed and develop future leaders they need to be involved and not just asked.Jackson Hastings paid for his own flight to the Gold Coast after Wests Tigers knocked back a request from coach Michael Maguire to have Hastings and Adam Doueihi join the team in Queensland.
It is understood Tigers management raised concerns over the message it would send to other sidelined players if they had just Hastings and Doueihi fly with the team.
Maguire had hoped two of his best players in Hastings, who will return from suspension in round six, and the injured Doueihi, who is also one of the club captains, would sit beside him in the coach’s box on Thursday night.
He also wanted the pair on the Gold Coast to assist with preparations and ensure they had a role to play despite being sidelined.
But the request was knocked on the head by Tigers management amid concerns that it may send the wrong message by flying two players to the Gold Coast and leaving other squad members in Sydney.
That did not stop Hastings though who showed his commitment for the side by putting his hand in his own pocket to ensure he could still play some role to assist the struggling side.
Many believe Hastings and Doueihi should be the team’s first choice halves pairing given halfback Luke Brooks’ indifferent start to the season.
Doueihi has earmarked round 14 to make his long-awaited return from knee surgery.
In an interview this week, Maguire rubbished suggestions he has lost the dressing room.
“I can see every day the attitude the players have. There’s no issue in that regard with morale,” he said.
“We’re in a better spot than people think. We have eight first-graders sitting on the sideline and that doesn’t help. The challenging part of coaching in the NRL is getting through the tough periods when your roster has been decimated and you need depth to fight through it.
If big Russ had of pissed in a wet suit instead of his shorts, he could of got a warm feeling.Lol. In fairness it was cold at Brookie 🤣
No wonder we struggle with recruitment with a board and CEO displaying this level of contempt and unprofessionalism.Jackson Hastings paid for his own flight to the Gold Coast after Wests Tigers knocked back a request from coach Michael Maguire to have Hastings and Adam Doueihi join the team in Queensland.

Tim Sheens made the football related decision..No wonder we struggle with recruitment with a board and CEO displaying this level of contempt and unprofessionalism.
Passion and heart from AD and Hastings should be supported and nurtured. It shows pride in our jersey and a willingness to contribute to the team and club any way possible.
Attendance at games would likely be mandatory for any other club and it’s always common with teams like Melbourne to have injured players in the coaches box ie Slater back in the day.
It’s honestly farcical especially when trying to create a positive team environment.
I’ve said before that I like Madge as a person but I don’t think he’s getting the required results. But I feel for the guy here. How is the team supposed to be successful when the muppet CEO and board continually put barriers like this in place.
Muscle memory? So why do we get so upset with the media‘s portrayal of us again?
I’ve never read or heard about another club ever over this issue? I assumed all clubs fly all players to support their team mates unless they are required for other grades or got in the way of rehab? It’s part of the deal. But maybe I’m way off.I don't see the big deal in it all. There are 8 players on the sideline, does the club fly them all? Can't pick and choose.
Good on Hatings for doing what he did. Hope that helps the team. Althought he seems a bit of a kissass right now (kind of like B Ryan with all the logo kissing before he left for Sharks). Hope it rubs off on other people a bit. Not a big fan of playing up to the crowd, but I think our team needs that right now.
I don't know if I've seen injured or suspended teammates fly with the team for an away game, unless maybe it's the Finals.I’ve never read or heard about another club ever over this issue? What do other clubs do? I have no idea. That’s the precedent. If modern players expect this because the top clubs do it then that’s what the tigers have to do. If Melbourne and roosters keep their players home then that’s fine.I'm not an employer but an employee and it is 101 this will set a precedent. It is poor judgement and it is great to see Sheens setting standards.
As for not getting the best from employees, using outdated work practices is a contributor to a toxic culture which results in employees not realising their potential. Perhaps some of our forum members should give that some thought as to why we are where we are now placed.
It's a requirement for home games but I think it's up to the player if they wanna support the lads to an away gameI don't know if I've seen injured or suspended teammates fly with the team for an away game, unless maybe it's the Finals.

For me Hastings and AD are our leaders after this year moving forward and I believe others will follow them.
If players that are striving to better our club and who bust their arse on the field trying to lead by example are showed favouritism then so be it.It's to show a sign of no favourite amongst the players
Exactly - there is no mention of it being the board. The board pretty much stay out of anything football related these days. i'm guessing its more likely the saviour we brought in to take over the management of the football dept.Do we know it is the Board? The article refers to Tigers' Management. It should be WTs' management but I agree with management. Obviously someone more in tune with the precedent potentially being set has intervened.
