Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Curtis Scott maybe 😉

Josh Feledy, Junior Tupou and Trey Peni look decent.

Those young blokes need someone to show them the ropes…
Who was the last quality outside back at the club? We’ve invested in youth - for the last 10+ years…
we gave them all so much money we couldn’t afford experienced quality!!

Youth is 50-60% of the answer - they need someone to teach them to toe the line and work for it.

You could see it coming a mile away Gildart being a failure. All the highlight videos posted of him over the summer were only building up massive disappointment. And it proves that a lot of people have no appreciation of just how much of a step up the NRL is. At least Hastings has played NRL before so he can somewhat adapt. He won’t be one of the competitions premier halves like he was in the ESL, but he should get a pass mark. Gildart though was always going to end in tears.
At a time when the dominant centres / backs are tall, lean and fast athletes, we go out and get an average Joe who isn’t quick and is mistake prone. Stop signing guys based on them playing 1-2 rep games please. There’s a reason they were dropped.

100%. It’s been said by the experts over and over. More young guys succeed at Melbourne and the Rortsters because they are brought into a winning way, learning winning habits.

He’s only played 3 games for England. 4 years ago. The way he was built up as an international, I’d have expected 15-20 at least. He’s 25 so we are seeing his ceiling.

Haven't had a decent centre since Simona and Lawrence.

Club has done nothing to address this... for years.

Just expect kids like AJ and Talau to succeed and then bring in Gildart who needs time in cup and expect the same.

Massive overlook from the club.
Can we PLEASE recruit some legit centres !?
Yep our centres are a let down. I watch other teams go around with big powerful and fast centres and just weep and yearn. Sad but true (except the weep part, internally only)

Outside backs’ pay rate has been dropping too. If the nrl was a circus, they would be the high wire act, and the people come to see the lions and tigers.
That’s because centres involvement can be really low if they don’t insert themselves in the game. Kotoni Staggs is a prime example atm, a club like us would probably pay him good money but he’s doing bugger all.

Gildart would have been backup to the backup behind Watkins and the few other guys…
Watkins has been the best centre over there in recent years by a good way - and he was rubbish over here…
How is a guy not as good as him going to make it?

It’s a pattern that has to stop. We know we suck at recruitment so don’t try to pull the wool over our eyes by signing these ‘rep players’ that nobody else wanted. It’s getting so old, “Justin Pascoe is delighted to announce former origin great Tyrone peachey whose about as interested in WT as he is in floral furniture “

By Winners… by players who’ve done the work and know what it takes.

We don’t buy those type of players

Many on here even baulked at Finucane. The club even has the forum seeing ghosts.
I think it was the length in regards to Finucane. No one wanted us to sign him for 4 years. And a 4 year contract from the Sharks would be hard to turn down.

If you got two good years out of him and were able to attract other stars it was a good deal. E.g. Nicho Hynes

Finucane hasn’t got 4 years in him - I have no problem with the club passing on him
I couldn’t give a stuff about 2026 if we make the finals twice before then.and attract some good first grade players that Finucane would do.
