Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Another thing to consider is that paying Haas his 1M, or even close to it, may leave Stef feeling a bit undervalued. We can't pay them both that, obviously. Stef may leave, leaving us back (almost) where we started.

Anyway, he'll end up at the Roosters, replacing JWH, for well under the 1M he is seeking, 'cos Uncle Nick cares enough to call......

Very few players worth 1mill and more often than not create a drain on the cap without delivering. Hence why the successful clubs won't ever pay 1mill of their cap on one player and demonstrates again why the salary cap does not make for an even competition.
Quite a few clubs pay blokes $1m off their cap I think- Cleary, Turbo, DCE, Tedesco, Hunt etc.
But agree 100% that the salary cap, and the loopholes in it, is the biggest farce in the game. Rich get richer and the rest get to fight for scraps every year with no chance whatsoever of seriously contending for the premiership.

A lot of people write off the pressure a $1M per year contract comes with.

Not everyone is built for it mentally like a Turbo, DCE or Cleary. Ash Taylor, Ben Hunt and even D Fifita struggle with the expectation that comes with it.

There are many reasons why Latrell didn't want to join us, but one of the reasons was that he didn't want to be the focal point on massive money in a bad team.

I have learnt alittle bit about Bronson Xerri the last few weeks and it was not the Sharks pushing the roids it was closer to home who was pushing it on him but also about a few offers he received by someone he was bragging to about the Roosters offer he got offered total package from Roosters 800K ayear I honestly don't know how the Tigers can compete against them

Do you find it curious Flanagan was dumped by the Roosters fairly quickly? Imo the only reason he was signed was to attract his mate, Xerri.

1 mil for Haas seem high to most on here but you all know we are at the bottom and not made the finals for like 10 year... I would have no problem offering him 1m for 4 year as he is a Prop that can play like 70mins a game if needed. Add the fact he would have great pulling power for other recruits, TPA would help with his salary and the Corp dollars he would bring would be top of the cake.. Lets not kid ourselves he would be a game changer for us and put creditability back in the joint..
BUT in saying that he will end up at Roosters or Souths on like 500-600k for the love of it and brown paper bags.. This is where the NRL need to grow some balls and say to other clubs if you want to sign him he must be on a min of 750k etc.. on the salary cap regardless.

Hearing Dolphins prioritising the signing of Cobbo over Walsh.

Personally I would go all out for Reece Walsh.

As much as Payne Hass would be amazing, the position the club is in today it’s extremely unlikely we get close to getting him.

Him and Stef I believe over time, could be the best starting prop rotation not only in the league but could rival all time if both hit there potential.

Hass is defs worth 1 million a season

SEN reporting Tigers yet to talk to daine Laurie about a contract extension off contract after next year.

Bit of a mess who our long term 1 and 7 are.
He's a youngster, who's form has been up and down, and who is still contracted for another 18 months. Why would we extend him already? The rest of this season will determine whether he's our long term fullback or falls back in the pecking order.

The second last person we'd extend is Laurie(just behind Brooks!)...remains totally unproven in NRL,and in fact is quite unlikely he makes it tbh
We need bigger..smarter..and someone totally committed to being here
Hes gotta prove himself deserving of an extension before we even discuss the subject

Based on how he has started the year I have no issue at all not discussing an extension.
I still think his position is at 6 and not at fullback. Would love to see we are in the hunt for Walsh but doubt that will come close to happening.

Daily Telegraph reporting Jock Madden will be testing his value on the open market from Friday. Jock isn’t content to bide his time behind Luke Brooks

There would still be time though? They have until end of the year don't they, before other clubs can enquire? Or is this a leak about discontent between club and Dane, do you think?
