If it’s one thing I could be critical of with Pascoe it’s not holding players to their contracts. Or coaches for that matter.
Agree with you about contracts being honoured.
In cases like Corey Thompson who played with lots of heart, wasn't on that much money and definitely never tanked, I think the club did the right thing allowing him to go on compassionate grounds even though I wish we had more players like him.
I can understand Papali'i having second thoughts about coming here after looking at how Parramatta are going compared to how we are going.
Looking at the other side of the coin, he is currently playing well at Parramatta on a cheap contract and if there is any truth in the story that he is getting 200K more here than what the Eels were able to offer then he is still doing pretty well. The only regret that he should have is that he signed too early and probably could have got a bit more elsewhere.
I just think we need to hold him to his contract and would hope that he is smart enough not to tank when he comes over here because he is still relatively young and certainly wouldn't want to devalue the worth of any future contract.
The fact of the matter is that he probably wouldn't need to get much over a canter here and he would still look like an immortal and at the same time I am buoyed by the fact that Kelma and Lucy despite any short comings that they might have are still 2 of our best every week and it's fairly obvious that they are out to prove to their new clubs that they are honest workers willing to honour their current contract and are pushing for a starting role next year.
Tankers and Wankers like What's the Matter Son have not done them selves any favours after being at Parramatta, Roosters, Tigers and Parramatta again and I think a lot of people have worked him out now. I think he is struggling now to pick up a decent contract now due to his some what questionable character and the fact than he is a concussion liability. Some may disagree with my thoughts on players like him but I just want to see players that are honest hard workers at this club that are willing to honour their contracts and spill blood on the field for the jersey and their team mates.
