You can believe it if you want. You can make of it whatever you want to make of it.

I think they are just trying to rile people up and they are twisting the truth at the very least to do so. If you get all emotional about it I think you've been played.

I just ignore it.
Look, I’m sorry for whatever it is you’re going through.
Just give it a rest.

Did it improve work effort 🤔
Not sure? The conference went for a few days.
It certainly had a positive impact.
We always had a top guest speaker, such as the first person to climb Everest solo or the blind triathlete, who was marked due to running into street signs and poles.
I often wonder what the NRL teams do in this area to lift the players and encourage self belief?
I remember the maroons called in this woman to talk to the players pregame she is no taller than 5’2” and overcome a lot of setbacks in her life, but she doesn’t see it that way. Maroons were down first two games then won the third.

Sounds awesome.
I can relate to that big time but too emotional to recount.
I watched a doco that said the reason humans survived and became who we are today is at some stage in history we developed the ability to work together.
We still maintained our personality groups though which means we still have leaders and followers.
I loved listening to my cousin Norm Provan. He was a gentle giant but very smart.
He told me when I was a lad [about 12] that if you want something done you do it yourself but it's a lot easier if someone helps!

Very wise words from your cousin, and spoken in a way that is very meaningful. It helps if those involved all share the same vision, but that alone doesn’t guarantee success or help from others. I think this is what makes Hastings a good leader, he appears to have an obsession about footy which is not readily obvious in other players. Sheens must have seen this in him and discussed with Madge a long time ago. Perhaps it’s part of the evolutionary process that we keep hearing about? “The need to trust the process” from Madge and the team.
I understand that these things take time

Sheens has been quite vocal in trying to get the Tigers to buy into the All Blacks culture, which places a huge emphasis on respect for the entire organisation.

Whether it be cleaning up the dressing rooms after the players are done, turning up to home games in suits or placing an emphasis on discipline and punctuality at training, Sheens is driving a set of standards he wants implemented from the NRL right down to Harold Matthews.

It’s not only a certain culture that the club wants implemented across the board. There are now systems in place to have the whole of club working towards a “Wests Tigers” brand of football.

Similar systems are in place at clubs like Penrith and the Roosters so that young players can easily transition into first grade.

The Blind Triathlete didn’t happen to be Ched Towns did it?

You know, I couldn’t remember his name but I think it may have been? Did he go to England for bee sting therapy? Had something like 1,000 bee stings in his temples to slow the blindness. I had a couple of beers with him at the Parramatta Travelodge in the 90’s.

Were you blind as well mate? [ sorry, me bad, I couldn't help myself]

Yep that’s him. I was good mates with his son in the 90’s. Cracking bloke and I can always remember when I was at their place he would be making blind jokes one after another. I never knew if I should laugh or not but he was a funny guy and really sad he passed away pretty young.

What did he die of? That's sad but inspirational yarn.

He had a heart attack climbing some mountain. I think it was overseas. He was only 50 or so. He was a real goer and was a bit of an adrenaline junkie and would always say to us Don’t die wondering which was a bit of mantra of his. Wow, I haven’t thought about him for years. Puts a smile on my face thinking back. Wish more of our players had his attitude.

Awesome, thanks for sharing that. 👍
